I could see it happening. Especially if a "big name" like T-Hall or Joooooon or Dumont aproached them about it rather than waiting for EA to come up with the idea.

SSX ontour was pretty shitty, as were all of the ssx games. I doubt EA would do a good job on a skiing or snowboarding game. If you play Amped 1 or 2, (Not 3, that was almost as bad a ssx) that's an engin and  style of relism a skiing game should be designed around.

if you played SSX OT opposite of the way it was supposed to be played, like you just stuck with the basic moves and not that power up shit i thought it was alright. Truck grabs? fuckin sick. Anthony B. helped designed that game and i think, given what power of say he would have had, that it turned out ok.

If i could design games i would design a crazy ski game.

They need to take the engine they used in skate and re work it for a ski style game like that. With a story line and stuff. Call it up and comer or something where the ultimate goal is winning USO or X-Games. If you include those franchises then money can slowly pool in to start production.Someone really big needs to approach EA with the idea and finical backing, cough cough *dumont* couygh cough *Jon*. Maybe if we convince Johnny Mosely to tell them to do it, EA will praise him like god and the game will be done tommorow. Just dont let Johnny have any other part in the production besides slapping his pretty face on the cover.

what the guy said above me, if they used the skate engine it would turn out sick. ever since i played skate i have thought about it. i am sure they are going to make a snowboarding version of skate, since skate was a huge success. of course, keep in mind they are making their games for a large audience. and snowboarding is what the average joe "in the ski world or someone who doesn't ski" thinks when they hear terrain park. until skiing gets bigger i don't think ea will make one. i am sure olympics will help. but you never know maybe they will include skiing. either way it will be amazing.

i've never played skate, but i always hear good things about it. could anyone explain how the controllers work on that game, seeing as it is pretty different from other games (or so i heard).

And ssx isn't that bad if you don't use all the power-up shit and the monster tricks. only thing i really missed in that game was s few more grabs, off-axis spins and a more realistic gameplay.

skate is extremely realistic. you use the right analog stick to do flip tricks and the bumpers to grab. it is the best skateboard game (action sports game ever) in my opinion. its next closest thing besides actually skateboarding. good graphics, all the pros, you go through process of spanczership and what not, real clothes real decks etc. everything. and not tony hawk grind the roof to dinosaur shit.

the same way. right analog for popping and butters, (like reverts) and also for carving off jumps. A to skate/push B to let off speed, same type action for rails and grabs, like right trigger for right hand and left trigger for left hand. right analog would be for tweaking and left for spinning. like for a truck driver, RT+LT+up on analog. almost every grab would be possible, like octo, true nose/tail, mutes, bio, saftey, japan, etc. the game itself might be a bit more challenging, since skiing is sort of a one-way sport (down) so the game would be baed around a base area of some sick resort, or maybe a city, like SLC and their would be different areas for different types of skiing, like trees, big mtn, park, pipe, and just jibbing around. the challenges would be the same, like pro challenges, comps, races or maybe skiier x, even though those are lame. (like death races in skate, which were also lame)  I think that both skiing and snowboarding could be incorporated, especially if big names (dumont, tanner, seth, jon, abma, etc) and companies (armada, salomon, K2, rossi, oakley, orage, etc.) i think if EA really spent some time on a game like this, it would be amazing. and then they should pay me for thinking all this up.  

in skate, you use right stick for flips and tweaking grabs, left and right triggers for left and right hand grabs, spin with left stick, and push with a or x. skiing could be the same, with the right stick for popping, butters, and carving off jumps, right and left triggers and analog stick for grabs, and spinning. pretty much every grab would be possible, like a truck driver would be LT+RT+up on analog stick, etc.

those controls for skiing sounds awesome, and i really don't think the target group for a game like that would be any smaller then with snowboarding games. i mean, at least here in norway there are more skiers then snowboarders in the parks, and if someone releases a skiing game i bet the whole bunch would get it. I know i bought snowboarding games, and i'm a skier, so i don't see why a snowboarder wouldn't buy a skiing game if it really rocked!

you guys dont get it.  There is no way we are gonna get a skiing game like skate because our market is way too small.  there just isnt enough money in it yet.  wait like 10 years when skiing has progressed a bit more, figured out the awkwardeness, and is at the stage that skateboarding is.

Actually, I'd assume the ski and snowboard market is pretty large. Skate set the bar for extreme sports, and I only see other companies trying to one up them. Not to mention that a whoooole lot of work went into the Skate engine, and I'm sure much of it can be reused in a ski/snowboard game.

Think about how much video game technology changes in 10 years. Saying that there will be a game similar to skate for skiers in that long is pretty ignorant if you ask me. I can see games like skate being the par 2-3 years down the line.

How realistic would you want the game to be. Because all extreme sports games are unrealistic. (Correct me if i'm wrong though) Tony Hawk, SSX, Mad Trix, i've never played Amped but you guys seem pretty down on it. I've always wanted a good skiing game too. But markets are trying to make money and sell the game to people who don't ski or board. The general public (which is alot more than a handful of skiers) who doesn't ski or board doesn't appreciate a smooth cork 3 truckdriver or a switch 9 octo. People want games like SSX where you can throw 5 backflips or take off your board and fingerflip it and put it back on. They are trying to make money not satisfy hardcore skiers who can appreciate how smooth skiers are. But maybe I'm wrong and I would happy as the next skier if a good game ever comes out.

UMMM have you played skate.? cause  i can play that all hours of the day and not get bred of it. It can gte a bit tony hawkish some times, but rarely. I dont know too many people who arent huge on extreme sports and have skate though...

Everyone says its so bad, but if you just go down and play like Amatur slopestyle courses its fun because you can win without trying to carry ridiculous combos or doing tricky tricks.

theres been so many posts on this topic... but i kinda like how it keeps coming back up. you're all on the right track. we need a ski and snowboarding game in one that allows you to choose between skier or snowboarder (like in ssx) but we need it to have a more realistic game engine (like amped 2) with a fun and challenging control style (skate). also it should have some way of improving your own statistics (ollie height, how fast you can go, how fast you can spin/ flip, how well you can land, how balanced you can be on rails, etc.) by starting you off at a really low level and having you complete practice sessions or specific goals to gain stat points. it would also be really cool if it incorporated all styles of skiing, big mountain, halfpipe, slopestyle, big air, jibbing, freeriding, and possibly skier cross. another feature that should be incorporated into the game is type of snow surface, like they should have the parks be groomed, and the big mountain be deep pow (you could have a variety of different skis that behave differently in different snow conditions), and you should be able to land bigger airs easier in deep pow than on hardpack. another idea that i think would be cool would be a jump building feature, meaning that you design your own hit somewhere on a mountain and could hit it for a video shoot (they should make filming part of progressing your career as well as competing). and for everyone out there who says that skiing is too small of a market for a skiing game a combo ski/snowboard game would appeal to more people than any snowboard only game and open the game up to both ski/snowboard advertisers. getting the x games to back it would be huge but there are a ton of different companies in each sport that would pay to have their name associated with a game like this. but as someone said, the biggest thing for our sport would be to get into the olympics. that would open up so many doors in the sport and give it the money boost it deserves.

Dammit Jon make a game, if it's anthing like your comps then it'd be perfect. Too bad the members aren't video game makers becasue we'd have on sick game made through our ideas.
