This is a huge piss off for me, so I guess Im looking for a little sympathy.
I was just in my backyard riding my shotgun, when I started doing these overcrook grinds, like sliding a rail at 90 degrees, but your skis rotate an extra 90, so you are crooked. Anyways, I figure a shot from above would look pretty cool, so I grab the ladder and my tripod.
Ive done these plenty of times before, and never a problem. I set up the ladder, and hook the legs of my tripod in between the rungs, then tape them so it can not move. I set the angle up, check it, hit record, and hike up to the drop in.
Just about at the drop in, I hear a crash. A gust of wind knocked over the ladder, with my camera on top of it. I go over and hope its not broken. Well, the LCD screen is smashed in, my tape is ruined, my new 100$ battery came appart, a bunch of the plastic housing on the camera is cracked/ missing. I popped my other battery in, and it still turns on, but i have no idea if it will still work or record.
My parents are bringing it into futureshop now. I even bought an extended warranty for 150$ more ontop of the 900 I paid for the camera. The salesman told me when I bought it (Christmas, less than 3 months ago) that if i bought the extra warranty, they will replace it if I drop it or anything, no questions asked. But, I needed a new lens cover a while back, and they said it was physical abuse and it wasnt covered. Im just hoping they can fix it for me.
Im really angry/depressed that this happend. We had so many plans for fimling during the break, but i guess that isnt happening now. This sucks.
