Funny how pretty much every 100% park riders on salomon would use them over the 12 if they use din from 9 and over.
I think the auto-adjust toe piece isnt that great since teh screw canstrip pretty easilyand the way we need to loose a shoe quite often would make it un adjustable after a couple release.
And to thread maker, if you want good advice, state everything abou yourself:
height weight, type of skier abiity level, boot lenght, number of petsat home ect.
Do you even know how the sth 12 and 16 are made??? do you even know theyr heel piece are pretty much indestructible????
this is not a s912 or a z serie it's an sth.
you are bad mouthing one of the best binding ever (my personal opinion and teh one of many professionnal athletes and users)made by comparing it to a totaly different binding.
answers to your arguments:
1- the toe piece on the sth 16 arerealy well made and have really good adjustement with the 2 screws on the side making it stronger then the 1 screw stripping piece of shit that the 912 had. And that toe piece designare prone to breaking if your seth morrison jumping off 15o drop doing doubles...
I tought mine were fucked and finally was ableto adjust them back with minor adjustments and repair.
2- The heel piece on the sth serie is the same as on the 916, 920 wich were and are still ne burly ass heel peice tracks, I broke a whole bunch of 912 but havet seen any broken heelpiece on this heel piece track design. They do not have a fliping
argument for p10:
1:Pivot 10-12-14 werent metal, they were plastic and did break a lot more then the sth 16, s914 lab and s916 toe piece. Most look rossi sponsored athletes were using all metal -15-p18 bindings cause tehywere full metal but no upward release so not that good for most of teh general public. I personally seen a lot of riders break them in pieces so I woudnt say they are that durable.
2: if you really want your skis to flex naturaly get some of these bidningswerethe toe piece and heel piece slides on a plat so the ski flex under the binding too. but wait these are uber heavy bindings for recreationnal skierso I guess tehy arent that good of and idea. the tight screw pattern is also way more prone to ripping out and with the softer cores of nowadays park skis you'll prollybe needing helicoils soon if you ride pretty hard or lan on your face a bunch
He would probably end up paying msrp and get a cheap binsding instead of something bombproof he could use for a long time.
there is nothing wrong with payign full price in shops you support but I can see why he wouldnt want to pay the same prioce for a pair of z12 that he would have paid for a pair of sth16.
i am 5'5" -5'6" 135 pounds level III very aggresive park skier.
have a pair of 161 4frnt msp's
just mounted them with a pair of salomon sth 16 bindings today. using them as mainly park skis
