FOR THOSE WHO HAVE TRIED THE 08-09 SALOMON SUSPECT OR DUMONT
If you've demo'd next year's Salomon Suspects or Dumonts please post your opinions here...I have a demo day coming up at Mont Tremblant soon and I hope they have them
i tried em. thought they were pretty nice. they only demoed 171s i think and i ride 181s... so i thought they were light and pretty soft. the top sheet is absolute shit though. i banged em together like i always do to get the snow off and these HUGE chunks of the topsheet kept getting sliced off.
were you on the actual final product skis with real graphics or did they have blank white topsheets? (like the ones 720skiguy said he demoed). i really hope that isn't the case though- those look like great skis otherwise
i was on the final product. i have armada ar6s and i clang em together all the time and nothing ever happens. maybe it's just because the edges on the suspects were super sharp, but i knocked them together and they sliced immediatly, and i happened a few times too in the air doing grabs and stuff. they top sheet just seems really soft.
I got mine a few weeks ago and they are kickass they have the sickest graphic. They suck at carvin up the mountain but when you put them in the park they almost spin by themselfs. The dumont is the same as the suspect but the dumont has a stiffer tail for bigger guys or just people who hit 90 footers. Most people should go suspect its a big bulky woodcore but when you spin on them you will find out it dose not matter. get ready for edge armor and super solid landings.
elaborate? i'd think considering the stiff wood core and all they'd carve pretty well, or at least better than this years dumonts, which carved pretty well
no, the Dumont and Suspect are the same besides the fact that the Dumont has double edge armour. The Suspect's dimensions are 122-86-115 so it is not symmetrical...
kind of annoying that they don't have a symmetrical ski yet if you ask me, the suspex graphics look so dopee, and the waist is perfect for East Coast Park.
Can anyone compare these Solly's to this years walls? I just snapped my tail in half on my walls, kind of disappointing. Landed backseat on back-flip and a ski should not snap like that.
I have always tended to shy away from salomon skis ever since I demoed a pair a few years back and hated them. The dimensions made them feel super bulky and that foam core felt like shit. I can safely say that I fucking hated them.
anyways... I demoed a pair of dumonts the other day at tremblant and though they do kind of feel like a lifeless ski (meaning they suck for carving and skiing outside of the park on), they seemed like a very stiff, very solid ski to take of jumps. Not to mention, if you want a ski that will rape the halfpipe then purchase a pair of dumonts because just after taking these through the park a couple times, I could tell that their rigidity and tail stiffness would rape the fuck out of the pipe.
P.s. If anyone can explain the difference in flex patterns between the dumont and suspect other that the stiffer tail, I would like them
