ATTN WELDERS: Broken Brakes -Possible?

It's a brake from an FKS.
I didn't actually break it, the metal is just fractured. I heard the snap so I stopped before the whole thing came apart. It still feels pretty strong, I'd say the split goes about half the length of the diameter of the brake. The crack is on the outside, so if i bend the brake in to make the width narrower, it will probably snap, but bending out to make the brake wider it is still relatively strong.
Can this metal be welded and is it possible to weld such a small crack?
Thanks in advance.

MIG weld, and its a bitch. Mine snapped, and I brought it to a welding store, and they did an alright job, but they said it was super hard to fix.
I just got another brake instead.

I would say yes but it will still be weak. What I would suggest is take off the plastic part and get a small-small metal tube and slip it over the break and weld it so that the tube is covering the crack. also you could get sheet metal and weld the end to the break and rap it around I dont know if it will work but possible a solution

It is that easy. Contact Dynastar/Rossignol and they'll send you two heel assemblies for $40. Then you have two brakes, two sets of heel plates, two of the plastic plates, and a set of race stock spring covers.

fks breaks are terrible if your skiing park. i wouldnt even bother cause theyll break anyways if you ski/land switch in softer snow

takin it to a welder tomorrow. see what he can do. the brake probably won't have the strength it had before fracturing, but oh well.
i bent the brakes up a little higher when i widened them to deal with that, so hopefully that solved it. probably the reason why i broke the brake in the first place, i torqued it too much.

A new set of FKS brakes is $30 straight from Rossi.

got back from the welders.
did a decent job considering they were nice enough to do it for free.
lets just hope it holds up.
if i wasn't such in a rush to get these skis mounted i would have ordered the pair, but i want to bring them back to school with me and i leave the 9th, as i said before.
good knowing for future reference though.
