Ski fucked up, quick question.

So I was going to tune my skis last night and I noticed the edge on one of my skis is pretty much broken in half. The crack goes most of the way through the edge and it pushed it out a tiny little bit so that it's separated from the rest of the ski by maybe 1/4 of a centimeter. I know I need to take that shit to a shop ASAP, I just want to know if it's safe to go skiing or if I'm running a huge risk of blowing out an edge and owning my skis. Thanks.

Egghhh... I wish I had a picture but my friend's house doesn't get shit for service so I can't use my camera phone. I REALLY want to go skiing today if possible...

A shop can weld the edge for about $10. If you don't get it done the edge will just pull out, and then you won't have an edge and it will catch on everything

Yeah, see if I was good about tuning my skis I would just take the risk and ride them, but I rarely ever check them so that crack could've been there for weeks... so I think I'mma play it safe and take them in before I go up. If it's a short process I'll have 'em done and otherwise I'll run the risk and stay away from rails I guess...

It shouldn't take too long, the longest part is waiting for it to harden up enough to not fall out, just call your shop and ask them how long it takes, I think my shop charges like $8 an inch or something, maybe more?

A crack should be less than the inch price

I took it to the mountain repair shop where they're apparently too incompetent to weld, but they did a quick-fix with 5 minute epoxy just to make it usable for the day... Six hours of heavy park sessioning and it appears to be holding up OK, but I'm definitely getting it done right before my next day up. Thanks for your help, man.

For sure dude. I don't know where you are at, but if you are in Utah try the Lift House, they are the best repair I Know of
