Snowboards in pow/ trees?

yeah so i was skiing with my friends on saturday(they snowboard) at mt. snow, and we take a couple runs through the trees. Both of these kids have never skied in snow more than four inches deep but are proficient on the mountain anyway. Mt. snow got about a foot the night before we went out so the conditions were sick as hell to say the least. My one friend loves trees now and loves snowboarding in general. He tends to go with the flow and do whatever, just have fun(snowboarding for three seasons, he's already really good), but the other one, who has been snowboarding since he was 10 or so (he's almost 17) claimed to "hate trees" on a snowboard, and claims that snowboarding is infinately harder in pow and through the trees (he's never skied). He got stuck one time and pretty much cried about it. Now, i ask you NS, was my friend just being a bitch or is it really that difficult on a snowboard. Oh and we ended up conceding to his complaints and skied park for the afternoon which turned out fun anyway but i feel like we wasted good conditions as the park was ungroomed. And jimmy if you read this i'm not criticizing you, just wondering.

snowboards are much easier in deeper snow. the tracking issues of hardpack are pretty much eliminated, and its esentially like surfing. plus the shorter length equals more manueverbility.

id think a sideways stance would make bobbing and weaving through trees alot easier. i have snowboarder friends who RIP through the trees.

snowboarding in pow is probably easier but i think trees would be harder, i mean we can plant our poles and turn real quick in the trees where snowboarders seem to need more room for turns but ive never boarded so these are just assumptions.

I snowboard. I would say that pow is amazing on a snowboard even though I rarely get to ride it. Trees on skis are probably easier though because you guys can turn faster and sharper it seems.

Yeah tell him to stop bitching and try to get better at trees. So much fun once you get used to them.

all depends on the snow.
I was out hitting pillow lines a couple weekends ago and the snow was a little wet (cuz we were at a pretty low elevation) and if the snow isnt very dry its actually pretty hard to turn in the pow on a snowboard when your not mobbin.
Basically besides that its probably the same.

I think your friend is being a pussy, because he doesn't know how to ride them. I love the trees, and if I were at Mt. Snow with freshies, I would have pulled the "No friends on a powder day" card and peaced. Sucks for him.
Either get him in the tress & powder and lovin' it, or forget ever sharing the great times in the woods together.
Tell ya what Jimmy, I'll give you a free lesson :)
