i know that this probably isnt the best site to be coming to for information on A.T. bindings and i have done some reasearch on A.T. bindings but for all of you who use A.T. Bindings do you people know of an A.T. binding that will work well for the day trips. but hold up well in the park ocasionally.?
I have yet to hear good things about that binding. I would try to pick up some Fritschi Freeride Plus. I highly doubt that most AT bindings will hold up in the park. I've heard a bunch of people breaking Naxo's just riding in the Resort.
You are looking for 2 totally different bindings that really have no cross over. I ride Fritschi Freeride Plus both on hardpack and touring and have not had an issue yet, everyone else I ride with also swears by them. Dukes have done a few people well but also given people headaches. That said I wouldnt ride either of those as a park setup.
the thing about the duke is that it is so stiff which is good compared to the laterall stiffness of the fritish free ride plus so if you are looking for a bigger burlier binding that can handed resorts and backcountry just as well i would go for the duke we all know why we tour and its so beable to ski down so go with the best binding for downhill riding
or you could just switch to tele its easier on the back and touring is un matched
Don't use touring bindings in the park, they're not made for that at all.
That being said, you need to be more specific about what you're looking for. Are you concerned about weight? Stack height? Do you have any preference on climbing bails (height, #)? What kind of touring performance are you looking for, and are you more focused on uphill or downhill?
If anybody recommends you a binding just from hearing you do "day trips" you're probably not going to end up with the right one. Unlike alpine bindings, touring bindings perform vastly different from one another and you need to do some research to come up with the one that will work best for you.
For an A.T. binding not really concerned with weight at all . and for sure more foucused on the downhill aspect of the bindings but not something that sucks at the uphill, over all im looking for an all around legit binding. and when i say "day trips" shit the problem is i know what i mean but i can't think of a way to explain it. ummm hiking to bowls, things like that if you live in utah or something like utah you know what i mean you have all those places you can go you can do round trip hikes from alta into brighton then ski the wolverine cirqe, you can ski all those places like butler fork, argente chutes, usa bowl. Kind of get my feel? And i know i shouldn't be riding park with touring binding its just i ride park ocassionally, and it seems as though something like the diamir might break under impact. but i don't know thats why i am asking you guys about an A.T. binding that might fit my needs.
