Looking to be a ski bum in breck/keystone area

its getting to be kinda late in the season for that but maybe you could work for breck/keystone and live in the employee places.

^i think he means next year...move to utah dan, alta's base is around 150"...by the way, I can't ski park anymore, ever....i had to have microfracture surgery too...major bummer

well not to rain on your parade bro, but most people on this site are young, and still in school. After I graduate from college I plan to ski bum for a season as well. Check the TGR forums, older crowd, more knowledgeable about this kind of stuff.

WTF? Dude, just look for jobs in Summit or work for Vail Resorts. Living there is expensive.

 if your going to be a ski bum, work like a dog and live cheep as during the summer. by this i mean no take aways, live off pasta and ready made source no smoking, drinking, lazing around etc. WORK ur arse off. get parents to buy you gear while ur still young, or in education etc. use all savings from summer to support your season. during the winter season learn a trade you can do in your spare time kniting and crocheting hats n scarf's etc, fire spinning, circus tricks, if you have musical or artistic tallent use it go to bar's etc. learn something you can sell to a consumer for quick cash or food and water in the evening's. learn to be a socialite, talking to people and making freinds (a week or so before the resort opens usually helps) in the resort before the season. you will not do any work that isnt cash in hand so there is no need for a home, a van is your best bet line the f@~cker with insulation and ply board, make freinds who will let you shower etc at theirs or maybe even stay a few nights. let local bussinesses you have a van and will do favors for them in it, bigger trucks will not make it up the mountain and will refuse to in bad weather with supplys to bars such as kegs etc so you can do it for them if they make it worth you while. when getting your season pass ask a freind if you can state you live with them localy for the disconts etc. these are just a few things but be creative. oh remember never eat on the mountain take food in your pockets etc.

do breck/keystone have a big village on the base or a near town or whats the deal

^this guy is crazy. but i am 100% sure you could live like that all season if you worked hard enough during the summer. If i were you I would just get a job at a resort and live in employee housing.

i hear cars are pretty cheap to live in these days

which is good, because it used to be MAAAD expensive back in the day.

  thanks dude. yea my mum says the same but a 70 hour week is not so bad for 7 months when u get a 5 month holliday at the end of it.

work your behind off this summer or starting now and save evvry single penny. take two jobs if you have to, work the graveyard shift. and then ride all winter long. working in a ski resort for the most part sucks, there are some exceptions but very few. 

Start to find houses around Sept-Oct, move to Breck, there is a better nightlife there and lost more young people. Average prices are about 600 for a room, but i know kids that pay 450 or less, couch prices range from 100-400. Visit in the summer cause its all locals and you meet tons of people fast, employee housing is cheapest in the beginning while you look around and find kids to live with. DONT work for the Mountain! its shit and when you want to quit they take your pass. Also passes are so much cheaper that it isn't worth it. Own your own and you won't have any problems.
