Skiercross course will wind its way from the top of the good luck chair to the base area. There will be a four athlete start. The course will contain a large banked slalom section, step-ups, step-downs, rollers, and all the interesting things built by volunteers you may see at States. The course has a vertical drop of 600’ and will run at least 4,500’.
Rail Jam will take place in front of the lodge on Saturday night. The rail will be set-up by Friday night for pro practice. The rail(s) will be chosen by the volunteer staff earlier in the week.
Slopestyle course is found in the Rodeo Terrain Park. The Rodeo park will be open on Friday the 21st for practice through the time of the event. New features are added all the time, but we anticipate at least 25 features, of different difficulty levels, for the event.
Best Trick Competition will take place on a feature selected on Saturday night by the volunteer staff.
Entry Fee and rules;
Cost for all events is $35.00 this does not include lift tickets. $20.00 per individual event Prizes will be awarded for all divisions in skiercross and slopestyle. There will be one overall winner and prize for rail jam and the best trick competition. This event is built by unpaid volunteers for the good of the sport and for charity. Please be kind and respectful of each other and the mountain. Anyone who is not respectful of others and the mountain may be removed from the event.
Camping:
There will be an opportunity for camping at Great Divide Montana. The location of the athlete “village” has yet to be set in stone, but the options are cool. A Community wall tent, communal restroom and sanitizing station will be available. A Bonfire pit will also be on scene. Remember winter camping can get cold. We do not recommend making this your first time. If it is your first time find a friend make a plan and be prepared.
There is no lodging in Marysville, but Helena is a short 30 min drive down the road. If you would rather get a hotel room you will find ample choices in Helena.
it will be super fun we have held state snowboarding the last 3 years and this year we are too it is such a fun party all weekend, and hopefully state skiing will be just as good! everyone should come help make the first year succesful!
my friend said he went to board state. he said that the main tables in the big air and slope were 35 and 40 foot. he said it was really fun, its mainly just a party all weekend. he won 3rd in pro and only got 20 buck though i guess. but thats what can be expected from a charity even
Yeah the 40ft round bar and DFD are in the base area for the rail jam sat. night. I'm going to try to make the jump after the truck a little bigger for the skiers. Snowboard states was a really fun time, shredding with your homies all weekend. Ski states should be the same. It's a great way to end the year.
Also all hotels in Helena Besides the Fairmont have 20% off lift ticket coupons and a lower mountain ticket to ride the course is only 20 bucks. Won't cost you much.
I showed up saturday at about 5:00 for the rail jam. The setup was a down rail with round piping and a down flat down with square piping. Both of these were set up urban with really nice lips for spinning on. It turned out to be more of a session than a jam, as it was not a competition. After the lifts closed, they got some music goin and basically said that whoever wants to hit the rails can hike up and hit them. For the first fifteen or twenty minutes there was myself and about five or six other guys, but then after that there ended up just being one other guy and myself. Shae (sp?) from billings ended up getting pretzles and other sick combos, and it would have been a dope venue for a legit rail jam with more people. However, it was fun just sessioning for as long as we wanted to.
Today (Sunday) was the slopestyle. The format was really sweet. Every skiier just stayed with their category and lapped the park for a couple hours, we ended up getting six runs in. It was basically a jam format. The park was in really good shape, but more rails wouldn't have been a bad thing. The truck jib was set up perfectly and led to a fun sized step down. The slopestyle didn't even feel like a competition, it was nice and laid back, everyone was just getting stoked on each other's tricks. At the end of the day Shae ended up being on the top of the podium with smooth cab sevens and spinning both ways. Some other stuff that went down was a hand drag cork 5 by Drew (he won a pair of snowblades for this!), switch bio 7 or misty 7, not quite sure what it was, by a guy who I think his name was Chris, and one of the girls was takin the big jumps straight on; that was cool to see.
To sum it up, I was really impressed with the event. It was super low key, everyone was just havin a good time. To those who couldn't make it this year, I would strongly advise you to put it in your schedule for next year.
Thanks dude. Yeah I was bummed with the turnout. Having the comp on easter didn't really help the cause either. But everybody that did show up really thew down. It was a really fun sunny day to shred the park.
