Why do people ski k2 park skis?

K2 skis are heavy and either extremely stiff (public enemy) or extremely flexy(fujas, slicencers). and yeah they are cheap but there aew such better alternatives. Why people why?

I can understand the Silencers or the Fujatives since they are so cheap, but the PE is as heavy as a race ski.  My dad's 174 PE's weigh twice as much as my 188 JJ's.  I don't know why people get them for park.

im not sure about PE's but fuji's and silencers are sick to me cuz theyre cheap, fun, light, easy to spin, and if your gonna break or trach a pair of skis, why pay a boatload to start with?

i could def see buying them because the price but line makes the invader which kills any k2 ski and is the same price as the slicencer. And i think i would know about soft skis i have Armada ar-6s and arvs too. plus a pair of thrusters which are stiff so i know why people like soft skis i love them. But id rather not have a pair of skis that weight more than me. And another thing i saw the other day is a kid with a pair of silencers mounted with jesters....thats like a 300 dollar ski with a 450 dollar binding it just doesnt make sense.

a few things wrong with your post, but i see where you're coming from.  if you think thrusters are stiff, you don't have a very wide knowledge of ski flexes (not trying to be mean, just saying).
the invader is a price-point ski, and it's fun, but it skis like it's cheap. some of the k2's do, too, obviously, but it's not necessarily weight that determines whether or not people buy a ski.  durability...? yes, i think so.
oh, and something definately wrong with the invader killing k2 skis reference.  even if you just look at the "park" category, i think that's an incorrect statement.  just a personal opinion, though!

This years thrusters might be but mine are from 2 years ago (white with blue tips) and they are def stiff.

why are you guys doubting this guy^??? ther are obviously HIS skis, and obviously TO HIM they are stiff, so why make a big deal about it and say that he doesnt know what he's talking about, they are HIS skis.

no one's being rash, man, and he asked a hypothetical question that he wants answered... sure, he thinks his skis are stiff, we know.  just trying to straighten things out for 'im... and i didn't say he doesn't know what i'm talking about, just stating that if he thinks thrusters are stiff then his knowledge of flex is proabably a little skewed.

um, I like k2 park skis because they are the sickest company ever, and their skis kick ass.  the Public Enemys were some of the first twins out there, and they rocked.  The company is just sick, and focused on the core.  I enjoy supporting the company, and I enjoy their product.  The public enemy is still a favorite ski of many people I know(for when it came out).  True, it has kinda diminished in the past season or two due to other companies advances in ski technology, but it is still BOMBPROOF.  k2 skis can hold up to anything, and if they don't, they'll send you new ones.

the public enemys are the best ski iv ever owned. I just always felt right on them. and they can pretty much withstand anything. The only problem iv had with them was the topsheet sucked and after using them and beating the shit outof them for 2 whole years and on and off this year the screws that hold the binding on riped out this past sunday after i fell prety had and cased a 55fter a couple times. But i just drilled srewed in some more srews and i think they should be good for another few years.

i wouldnt be so quick to judge k2

the hellbent are revolutionary
public enemies were a solid all mountain and jump ski
fugatives are cheap and kill in the park
silencers are fun as fuck and way cheap

personally i dont love k2, I would like to buy other skis, but price is seriously the #1 issue

The fugi is a pretty fun rail ski, and the PE come on the thing is tried and true, not to mention BULLETPROOF. Keep an eye out for a much stronger lineup from k2 next season...

they are durable as fuck
k2 hippy stinx's the old green ones, one of the best telemark skis every made
and the 07-08 fugatives are one of the sickest park ski i have ever skied on they are fun and buttery and durable as fuck i actually took a chuck out of a coping on a box with the ski and there was no real damage to the ski...and they were 270 so

The public enemy has moved away from being a pure park ski to an all mountain twin... so the weight isnt really a big deal. Someone who is buying that ski more than likely wants it to ski everywhere... not just in the park. Beyond that... K2 skis are so sick. they are durable as anything. Versatile... they all have pretty sick graphics (in my opinion) Just an all around sick company.

And speaking to the argument about why would you buy a silencer or fuji instead of an invader... its all about preference. and by your argument everyone on the hill that wanted an inexpensive park ski would all have the exact same ski... its all about preference. difference skis fit different peoples preferences. If it werent for that selection... we would be just like all the racers that we all hate so much.

the old first gen PE was, and still is one of the best park skis ever made. those things were wicked light, durrable, and at the time (and still to this day), had the NASTIEST graphics ever. if i could find some unmounted 179 first gen PEs, id snag those in a heartbeat.

now, as for thier current lineup, the PE, is really not a park ski anymore. it really is a ski for people comming off of traditional all mountain skis, and getting a twin to play on, that can replace thier crossfires or recons. i would never ski them, and working at a shop, thats the majority of the customer base on those skis. great sticks, but not really a park ski anymore. next years graphic change kinda reflects that aging market sector, with the throwback graphics.

as for the silencer, ive been on a few different pairs for the past few years. are they the BEST twin out? fuck no. but, they are dirt cheap, have the same shape and flex as the old PE. on jumps and bigger stuff, they are great, enough stiffness to stomp landings, and a shitload of pop off the lip. where they suffer, is on aggressive all mtn terrain, and in technical jibs. the capped construction isnt as powerful as a good sidewall, and the swing weight is fairly high for a ski of those dimensions. most higher end park skis are noticeably lighter and easier to flick around.

i havent spent much time on fujas, but same kinda idea, in a softer wider package.

ya i got my fujs for christmas this year, my first twintips and I love them. Its a good brand to start off with, when u dont wanna spend a fortune but u want a decent ski. PEs are shit tho i agree wit u on that one they're insanely heavy

i personanlly have skiied k2 park skis for years. yeh maybe there a little heavy but if there center moounted its not a big deal at all. also it keeps me stable and on point i think. lastly i have ha a pair of fujatives since beggining of last season so over 80 days on them and they are missing maybe an inch of edge and thats it

i got some cheap silencers and they are def not a really flexy ski. i personally like stiffer skis though so this was perfect for me (cheap, durable, stiff). at first i thought that they would be kind of crappy holding up b.c the top sheet seems to chip pretty easy but its just the very fine top layer that comes off and its not nearly as bad as many sandwich construction skis that i have had or have seen.

because fujitives were the first ever twin that incorporated any butter-benefitting technology and remains to this day one of the best buttery jib sticks on the market.

because pe's are absolutely bombproof and for powerful/heavy riders they are super stable for landing big shit. they are also one of the best all mtn twins available.

because silencers are absurdly cheap and pretty fun to ski.

because k2 has been supporting freeskiig from the startand people like to support a company whose intentions are good.

because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

well i had a pair of fugis but they got stolen last night with 2 pairs of armandas skis a pair of salomon and a pair of line skis and they picked my k2 fugis y would some one want a pair of k2 fugis instead of some nice armadas

AND OH YEA IF WHO EVER STOLE MY SKIS I HOPE U FUCKING GO OFF A CLIFF AND DIE ON MY SKIS
