The whole purpose of open events is to allow the unknown and up and coming skiers a chance to compete against the pros. Pros have to be invited or else they won't come. With no pros at the event, there are no big event sponsors, therefore not much for prize money and no chance for the unknown and up and coming skiers to get any love from sponsors. Who cares for a podium of unknown skiers? Certainly not Team managers. But an unknown beating a pro, that turns heads of TMs. The final results of slope is what should happen, mainly pros and a few new comers who killed it. Jon and Simon should compete in their own event because it gives kids a chance to beat the best, again the whole point of the NAO.

ya i somewhat agree with brian
if this was in fact jon's and simon's comp then they should not have competed, but ran it like they were doing in qualifiers
i just think to compete in a comp that you personally put on, that you built the course for, and did the work for shouldnt happen.
It just seems like you are putting on a comp for you to win, which I know is not the case, but its kind of what it comes off as.
But Jon props for a sick comp it seemed real tight, the course, the kids, and everything that i saw on your blog from the qualifiers and stuff.

Okay, so Candide should no longer participate in his Invitational, Jon should have never competed in his Invitational and god forbid he compete in this years Super Sessions. And shame on him and Simon for competing in an OPEN that they put together.

ya jon won his invite, placed second at this open, simon won the pipe at this open
if you are putting on an event with lots of money at stake and then winning it, it just doesnt seem right thats what im saying, you have to be able to somewhat see that.

Interesting arguments. I guess my initial reaction was that I was surprised to see the Simon and Jon compete in something I felt like they were sponsoring/promoting. However, the more I think about it, the more I think that the ams just need to step up their game. That is all.

man after being at keystone and breck all year i have realized that there are several ams out there that in my opinion can take pros and a couple that i feel are better than certain pros pros arn't only pros because of their skiing
