every digi camcorder is mac compatible. So your possibilities are endless...depending on the money u wanna spend really. On the low end sony has some really nice camcorders. in the 1500 range your best off with a Canon Elura or Optura, very sick single CCD cameras. On the high end you have the Sony VX2000, Canon Xl1S, and Panasonic AG100. Its all about how much you want to spend

Get a used GL1 or VX1000 - both great cameras - you should be able to find one for under $1000 if you look hard enough. I got my GL1 about a month ago and it rules. I've made one 5 minute video with it and everyone I've shown it to was amazed with the quality.

Just wait and you'll find one for a good price on eBay. Or try the forums on videouniversity.com, shumways.net or digitalskate.net - people are always selling them cheap.

you're better off buying a nice 1 chip vs. a cheap ass 3 chip.

those panasoic "3ccd"s are just a cleaver marketing plan to get low end consumers to think they are picking up a high end cam. Seems to be working,
like someone else said your better off to get a high end 1Chip then those shitty 3ccd

If you're looking for something cheap. Definetely get it refurbished. I got my canon optura 20 for $300. It actually shoots really good quality but its not real good for ski movies. Too unstable and just not made for that kinda thing. Its a good camera for the money but if u want to shoot some nice skiing footage definetely spend some money and get something nice.

i have a canon optura xi (1 chip). i was gonna go for a vx200 or gl2, but money was tight and i couldn't really find a deal (that wasn't a scam) on ebay. its not a 3 chip but it works well enough for me and if you are just starting to film now it should be fine to learn with.
