All-mountain twintips for tall gal

I'm in search of new twin tips. I'm confused with the whole women's ski thing, especially since I'm 5'10", about 160 lbs. It seems a lot of women twin tips are for shorter, lighter women. I'm a strong skier, ex-bike racer. I ski Salomon Mynx in 166 right now; they are a little short but I can rip pretty fast despite that, but I'd like something longer and able to handle crud and hold a decent edge on hardpack. I've considered ARW's - perhaps ARV's would be better for me? Reviews on these at a subscription site I have are good. I have crappy ski shops nearby so need to go online if I want end-of-year deals, or I wait til next year. I have no idea about length. I jib, do some jumps, ski switch, and like to go pretty fast and catch air. Help?

You could check out what Salomon has, I got a pair of Salomon Temptress 171's for my wife(which appear to be a 1080 with rivets) for like 219 bucks from REI, with a lifetime warranty, and I know my 1080's used to carve pretty nicely, have an 83mm waist which I think is all mountainable and are light, which is nice. I would check those out..

Yeah, I was waiting for the "size" comment!! :-) I"m actually quite normal and tried to upload a pic but I don't think it worked.
Well, the advice I've gotten from ski industry "experts" is that the ARW is more of a park ski and the ARV is better all mountain. I'd like a better all-mountain ski. I was told to ski 165's and that the 175 in a guy's ski is too much for me, but 171 in ARW is perfect. I like the reputation of Armada's and the construction. I just don't want to make a mistake.

I'm 5'10" and 140. Chick skis are too short for me. Good thing the K2 Nancy comes in 179. I'm probably going with the Nancy for my next ski.

You're lucky you're the size you are... because you'll be able to find plenty of womens skis in your size... Check out the K2 Missdemeanor in a 174. I think the Line Celebrity comes in a similar size.. I've seen a lot of those around...
also, the ladies Rossi BC comes in a 171 for sure. might want to check into that one.

K2's are unnecessarily heavy. A perfect ski for you, maybe, would be the Anthem.

What about the Line Prophet 90, in a 172? It's supposedly good on hardpack, too, which I get stuck with here in the east. There's great deals on them here, too.

the 175 is 125-90-118 so its pretty burly and i think it would be perfect for you.

Are you talking about the Lines or next year's women's 4frnts? I got on 4frnt's website and their graphics are really cool....I'd hope a women's ski from them wouldn't be too girly looking...I hate the flowery stuff.
I also heard, from a ski industry guy, that Armada is coming out with a women's ARV next year. Could be interesting.
I appears that the dilemma will be getting something at a discount this year, or waiting to see what the new choices will be next year and paying more.

OK, saw next year's Madonna's and they are somewhat girly but very cool. It looks like it may be worth waiting for!

Yeah, I've got no problem with that....just want to find the best ski for me.
Any comments on the LInes? Prophet, Blend, Celebrity?

Well, guys skis are not going to be as forgiving as chick skis, but that doesn't mean you don't have to use them. I use Silencers right now. The Celebrity is actually a gnarly ski. What is your money width?

Did you not just say that your next skis would be K2 Nancy's?.....

how bout the 4fnt vct? i know a girl out at jackson who loves them, they are wider than the arws or arvs but they are still really solid all around and come in 168 and 175. the 168s are 100 underfoot and the 175s are 104. so if you like a fatter ski, these might be good.

Ummm, yes. K2's are heavy but the Nancy is a little bit lighter since it is a women's ski, and it's the longest women's pow ski on the market that I know of. I think the Pandora is only 172, which isn't bad I guess. I might still get the Pandora.

Well, guess what....I ended up checking into some Lines because they were on sale at a shop nearby and I ended up with a great deal on a pair of Celebrities in a 172. Skied them last night and they are awesome - pretty burly, stiff enough to be fast and carve great on hardpack, but good in bumps, lots of pop in booters (I don't do rails), nicely weighted for spins despite their width and the fact that I mounted them traditionally. I parted with $450 for them and I think that was a fair deal for what I got.
The coolest thing is the hot pink base - it makes the snow glow red underneath the skis and my husband (who skis slower than me) said it looked like I had afterburners on the tails of my skis! Ha ha

Check out the Moment Sierra, 96 mm waste, looks like a wicked one-ski quiver, very similar to next years Nancy, and only available in 170.
