well i got my run down for the snowbird comp next year and all i do is i stand on top and think to myself
mark, you are a great skier. act like this is just another run down this face, but just try to do it a little cleaner and maybe faster.
i think to myself that if i push myself to hard im going to explode at mach and die, and if i just relax and act like any other run down this face i should have noooo problem qualifying.
dont stop skiing the whole day
so basically, dont let your body cool down, stay pumped, it doesnt work if you stand at the top of the run for the whole day, watching everyone go from the first competitors.
so just ski all day.
so by the time your ready to go,its a normal run
good luck
make sure yo're comfortable with the course, and just have a good time hanging out and skiing with everyone else in the comp. If you're relaxed you're more likely to stomp everything. Also, make sure you stretch so you aren't as likely to get hurt, and have a good breakfast, lunch or whatever beforehand.
yeah, just keep yourself loose physical and mentally. just ski and ride the park for fun and just keep your mind off the actual comp. DONT think about all the people watching and all that stuff.
just go at it like you're normally trying to throw stuff down in the park. music helps too. and riding with friends that make you relax and laugh.
good luck.
i've got 2 comps this weekend i'm in. so i know how ya feel. woo!
I never really plan my comp runs out that much, I just try to throw stuff better than what I normally throw, I don't win many comps but I dont really care about winning unless its a good prize then I might plan it out a little more. I progress much more through competition
ive noticed this too
after having a great time at the kimberley and red comps, i went back to kicking horse, felt so much more confident with my skiing
feels great
if you have your tricks down, just get some good tunes ons and have fun with your friends and fellow competitors. making it all serious will end up hurting u in the long run
