Center mounting....does anyone else not buy this?

Does anyone else not buy in on the whole centermount your non-symmetrical park skis? Sure...2/3 cm from center is different, but it seems to me when your are skiing switch your body is not leaning (whatever you want to call it; not in the same position) the same as when you are riding forward; thus you still use more of your tips than tail, and in a way making centermounting useless. It also works against your ski's sidecut. Anyone else agree? (btw searchbar sucks)

i completly agree that non symmetrical skis should not be center mounted i just dont have the time to get into the topic. i should be doing my hw

i had my ar6's at -1 then i moved em to center i like em at center alot more

keep in mind the decision to center mount a ski should be based not only on dimensions, but also WHERE the sidecut is located.  for example, if you've ever taken a close look at solly dumonts, you'll notice that the sidecut of the ski is more towards the tip of the ski rather than a traditional under-foot mount of standard skis.  makes mounting closer to center more practical because the sidecut helps carving switch like it would on a normal ski going forwards.  make sense?  also, a lot of people center-mount not because of fakie capabilities, but swing weight when jumping and grinding.
that being said, all of my skis are mounted around -2 cm from dead center or dead center.

haha best anwser this thread will see. but more on topic its just easyer for jumps/ landing regular you have more tail to work with. and it actually does make a diffrence a forward mounted ski skis sooooooooo well switch then a regular mounted ski does

I put mine at -2 from center for park.. no matter what. The only way I'd absolute center mount is if I had some Walls or Anthems, or other symmetrical ski.

The only skis I'd ever even think to put a center mount on a symmetrical ski would be the AR6's or some of the newer salomon twins like the Dumonts... from what I've seen, they do pretty well with that mount...

i have invaders and they are center  mounted and it makes it so much easier on rail i tried my friends skis that are mounted back and i ended up nose pressing the rail every time and sliding of

everything is a compromise. centermounting a traditional ski makes it a little squirrelly, because your boot is standing ahead of the sidecut. but if you're serious about riding park, center is the best mount, for sure. the ski rides so much better switch, you have less swing weight to deal with, and landings are way easier both forwards and especially backwards.

thats because your invaders are symetrical, they are meant to be center mounted. this thread is about center mounting skis that aren't designed to be center mounted

LOL you're saying since you're in a different position when you ski switch means you use more nose? You don't ride on your noses son. After for it ruining the sidecut, people shut up. I can carve just fine on a center mounted non-symmetrical ski as i would if it was mounted at the midsole. If you are good at skiing, you should be fine.

i was thinking about this yesterday, if you were mountain your ski ahead of center wouldnt make more sense to mount the ski backwards? id think that id make switch even better.

I Can see where you're coming from but I always mount my non symmetrical skis at centre. Its more practical for rails as well.

your knee bends in one direction,whether you are skiing forward or backward so center mounting and symetrical skiis are pointless for skiing switch but it does make sense to center mount for rails

i have to disagree, i have had many non symetrical park skis; troublemakers, concepts, mad trix, ar5s, etc.. and i recently switched to atomic urban punx which are symetrical. switch riding got SO much easier

yeah, but if your gonna have you bindings up the ski that much anyways, why wouldnt you mount em backwards, skis are meant to perform when the bindings are close to or behind core center right? for carving i mean

no skis are meant to carve where they are designed to be mounted. in some cases this is dead center, other times it is really far back

I forward mounted some mad trix and loved every minute I rode them switch.
Slightly sluggish going forwards but who skis forwards these days anyways?

I center-mounted a pair of old Troublemakers.  Obviously they  perform great switch, and their forward performance has only suffered slightly (they still rip.)  In my mind it's kind of a shot in the dark.  Some asymmetrical skis will be completely screwed up when they're center-mounted; others will not.

well i was skeptical about center mounting non symmetrical park skis, but my friend just got his Rossi scratch sprayers center mounted and I tried them out and tehy actually ski really nicely. They just feel pretty short when skiing forward and they were kinda weird carving backward, i actually like my non centere mounted public enemies for skiing backward. The center mounted scratches were better for going into jumps switch though, if that makes any sense, and they spun easily (they are pretty ligth anyway) and had tons of stability for landing switch
