Skiing Near McGill

I've been looking at Universities to attend, and I'm really feeling McGill but I'm curious as to what hills are closest, and what the skiing scene is like at the University. Anyone?

theres avila and tremblant which are your best options for park within the region, avila being about an hour from there and tremblant closer to 2, but both with amazing parks

theres also bromont and st bruno and a bunch of smaller ones which arent as developped on the park side

ha, i just got back from montreal. my dad showed me and my sister the campus and its sick. it's like on top of the hill on montreal, so basically it's right above montreal. my sister will be applying there next year, and if you haven't seen the campus, then when you will, you'll be dying to go there. as far as skiing goes jay peak is, about 2 hours away, but i know you can make it in an hour and a half. avilla's really close, plus there's night skiing to ski on the weekdays. avila's about 45 minutes. tremblent is about an hour 1/2. such a sick school, if you get in, go there.

Exactly Avila and Tremblant have some of the best parks in the East!

i know avila probly beats the crap out of Bromont but Bromont is a real fun place to chill and next year's park should be nothing short of freakin sweet. theres also less people in the park so crowding in-runs isnt a problem.

i know this thread is old, but i am deciding between UVM and McGill for next year and i was hoping for some more input on skiing at mcgill. is it expensive? are there good college deals? any powder (jay)?

Whether you go to UVM or Mcgill the skiing deals will be the same. There are student discounts for passes at all the nearby ski hills (Sauveur, Avila, Bromont, etc.). Price wise for a season's pass you're looking at anywhere between 200 - 400 depending on the hill and the type of pass you opt for.

As for powder, welcome to the East coast. Jay is worth the trip when it gets dumped on.. Sutton and Tremblant too.. But I wouldn't come to Montreal for the pow skiing haha

I'm pretty sure McGill organizes bus trips fairly regularly to Vermont, so you may get lucky and get a bit of snow while your out there. As said above Tremblant is always fun.

im not from QC, but how far are the chic chocs from montreal? Always wanted to go check them out when i still lived on the east coast. They look like whats probably the best skiing in the east, still would like to check them out along with the Newfoundland Fjords if im ever back there in the winter time.

Google maps says ~10 hours. so figure 8-9. 770kms.
One of my buddies just got back from a couple days of touring up there.
