i know a few places that rent twintips and i was thinking of buying an 08 rental. is this a good idea?

If its cheap go for it, its just like buying any other used ski.

go for it! Demo skis are generally in good shape, but ditch the demo bindings..

if you are at loon it depends on what shop around lincoln...dont buy anything from the mountain because there shit just gets beat...look to village, rodgers or lahouts i know village shit is quality and they take pretty good care of there rentals but do mostly tele stuff...rodgers has a ski imporium and will most likely have quality rentals for sale and lahouts.....i dont really like them but they sell there demos at the end of the year for a reasonable price

I was talking to my local shop the other week and in the past year rentals have been relatively cheap, but he just got back from the shows and said all the 08 rental prices went up.  It'll be cheaper next year to buy than to rent. 

If you were talking about buying a pair of demos i'd go for it. The shops wax them regularly and keep em in good shape. Ditch the demo bindings though

i have a pair of 177 karhu agents that i am really not going to do with that have been re mountain about 5 times and have been t nuted and arent really worth anything i will give you fore 40 bucks +shipping, i can get pics if interested

if they are cheap  then thats the way to go, no reason to pay full price.   But definetly drop the demo bindings
