being a "natural" at stuff

Ive been looking at some of the threads lately, and I was just wondering. I see people saying stuff like 'I just learned backflips this summer on a tramp' or 'can someone please explain how to cork'.

Does it take people that long to learn tricks?

Not to brag, but at the end of the first week I had my tramp, with no prior experience, I was doing smooth misty 7 grabs and cork 9's. the first time I tried to cork, I did it perfectly, same with mistys. did it come that easily to you?

I watch my friends progress, and I see unique differences in their progression too. No matter how hard one of them tries, they just dont have any air sense, they cant do mistys or corks, even with me thier walking them through it. At the same time, another one picks up stuff almost as fast as I did.

So Im wondering, do you think some people just progress faster then others? Does air sense come naturally to some people, while some people have to work really hard for it?

i think that if you are not wiked lanky and non atheletic most skiing tricks come pretty easily. if you are atheletic then if you are shown how to do a trick you could probably pick it up real fast. maybe not w/ everybody, but that's what i see mostly.

I had early problems when i was a lot younger, cuz i unfortuneately inherited an inbalance in my inner ear chamber (the one that controls balance) so i got vertigo attacks a lot. When I would go inverted, it would whack me out. now im cool with it tho, i kinda grew out of it, i just need to sleep with my head on top of 2 pillows instead of 1.

I agree with being athletic helps you pick up tricks fast. But my progression in skiing is pretty delayed since I have a horrible time picking up new tricks. I'm definitely not a natural.

I swear there is a certain gene specifically for things such as air sense. I am pretty athletic, made first team all-state in bball and lax, yet I suck in the air. Then, one of my friends comes over, never jumped on a tramp before, and starts throwing anything I tell him to such as misties, rodeos, underflips, corks. I was so pissed =P

now the old man sits until the days when time stood still, the hours always seem to fade, but the memeories never will. All the love that you gave me, the dreams in the night. Now I just want to thank you, while the day's still light.

i think a lot of people are held back by the fear of a trick more so than the ability or just natural talent... if you have the balls to try something there is a good chance you can and will

it all has to do with fear, some people go up in the air and look down, others dont

yeah, im tall. and big. and doin shit isnt a big thing to me. its like walking to me. i learned stuff pretty fast. took me about 3 hours to learn somewhat flat flats.

I dont think its fear though, cause The kid that I told you about that sucks, he'll try anything. We told him to do a backflip out of a tree that was 10 feet above the tramp, and he did it and landed on the bars, then went up and did it again until he got it. I dont think he fears anyhthing. he just doesnt have air sense

i think its about fear and musle control, if u dont have fear to try tricks and have good control over your body then stuff should come easyer

I think everyone is a natural at rails dude, there's nothin to em, it's just like a fuckin slide with ur ankles a little tweaked back, with royale steez. My little cousin hit a rail perfect his first time, he was 9.

It's not about fear guys, fear is a part of it, but it's about CONFIDENCE. If you know ur gonna do it right, and with style and you focus on that, then you'll do it right with style. It's not so hard, u just need CONFIDENCE

its muscle memory, i know when im going up, at the apex, and on the down fall of a jump...spotting landings is the best thing for sure tho

Air sense is something you're born with, I don't think you can learn it.

For some people tricks come easier than others. That's it. People progress at different speeds.

Air sense can be more 'inherited' for some people, while others can achieve it through practice.

Practice. Many many pros have worked their ass of to get where they are at, while some it came a little easier.

on tramp, i learned d-spins, corks, mistys, loops and other shit, in like the first month or so, a year later and i still cant do a backflip. i can do gainers on diving boards, but i just cant commit to that. skiing wise, my progression is slowed down a ton by back problems. if i case or awkwardly 1 time my back is fucked for the week.

there are definitely naturals and non-naturals. i am not a natural... i tried to be once... actually i did land a back on my second try, but thats simple shit... but then i went straight for the double and it cost me, other than that i suck at learning stuff. like ill go to the diving board and just try and huck myself the right direction, and it just wont happen. and thats not fear cause water doesnt really hurt. lincolns and backs i can sort of feel where i am in the air, but for like fronts and even 3s sometimes im just like spin... should see the ground at some point... ok. and wakeboarding, doing backrolls, same thing, just huck it and hope the ground comes around. i have on idea where i am in the air. so yeah, some people just seem to have a natural sense of where they are in the air. it could be just something that is learned early in life that some do and some dont, but id say thats a key difference. and rails are just balance and commitment.

i am definitely a natural, while my friends are so un-naturals it's ridiculous. every trick i can do right now except switch 5 i landed first try, while my best friend (who is athletic) took about a week of straight trying with me coaching to do a back on a tramp

i think part of it is that you have a trampoline to practice on more then them. i dont have a trampoline but 2 of my friends do and they kill it while i cant land shit. i pick up almost everything quyickly though, its just i dont have a tramp like they do

well I think Im a natural. like me and my one really ahtelic friend leanred d-spins, misys, rodeos, flats, and all the other stuff real quick. but I we have some other friends who we coach and a lot and try to help but they just seem to have no air sense and r all spazzy when trying tricks. I guess yer either natural at it or ya aint

hahaha chip...he almost killed himself the first time landing inches from the bar but anyways the best way i feel to progress is with a friend who know's what the hell he's talking about and helps you with the tiniest stuff that goes wrong with the trick..i never got to thank that friend of mine but now me and him are gonna have a great time the season with all the new shit we learned on his tramp...thanks ross
