What should I learn next?

I am currently decent at sweeps, I have been playing rock, metal, and Indie for 5 years. I dominate all Red Hot Chili Songs, and Incubus songs too. WHat's my next step... I'm kinda in a hump right now.

I.E. What is a challenging song to play on guitar that would make you a better guitar player, and isn't impossible for a guitar player like me.

learn songs from bands that inspired red hot chilli peppers like hendrix, stevie ray, BB King. get into the blues!

whatever you do, just learn something new every day. even if its easy, because a riff a day equals 365 riffs a year. which means a lot of progression.

learn a sweet jazz standard like Blue Bossa. Or try some modal soloing over something like So What.

to prove yourself, you need to take on some pat metheny. if you can play 'the first circle' you win forever, no questions asked. youtube it, it really is one of the most glorious songs ever written.

^ I can appreciate that , but it's not my style. At this moment I think that I'd like to accelerate in the modern age of electric guitar. I 'm actually really having fun with solos, but need more fun and difficult licks and tricks.

ok this is 'fuzzy' by oz noy, not my favorite by him, but nonetheless groovy and very good. the album that this is off of is great though, he's on itunes if you're interested.

play some grateful dead, jerry's jamming on "viola lee blues" is the sickest jamming/soloing I have ever heard, plus it puts a good vibe in the room

^ as for Incubus, I like can play the whole Light Granades CD.  I Just am getting into them actually.

thats cool. im a huge incubus fan, and honestly a crow left of the murder has some of the best guitar riffs ive ever learned, so fun and fluid, not a lot of phasers and octavers like their previous albums have (even though all of their albums are sick). sick sad little world is my fav incubus song, and probly favorite one to play. its awesome.
