Your thoughts on 90mm skis

hey so i mainly ski in the mid west, and im possibly thinking about getting a ski around 90mm under foot. should give me enough float for out west, while at the same time retaining the ability to ski well in minnesota. i would be putting a tele binding on these, either bomber bishops, or 22 design hammerheads.

i was looking at line prophet 90's or possibly head mojo 90's in roughly 179+ lenghts.

what are your thoughts on these skis, or possibly other suggestions. also does line measure effective edge length or do they measure total length from tip to tail.

and cause i know some one is going to ask. im 5'10 185lbs

my skis are 93 underfoot.. i love them, they're baller in the park and still do pretty good in the pow, and if your looking for more skis around a 90mm waist you should checkout the bluehouse mr..

honestly if u just ski midwest most of the time y sacrafice performace for a fatter ski that urgunna use like twice a year tops out west at the big mtns. if u get a ski with 75-85 that should be fine plus they carve better on ice and im sure u dont get much pow days plus if ur good at skiing u can ski pretty  much any ski in any terrain like a 80 mm ski in pow will work fine

i ride prophets and im getting this years 90s at the end of the season, they rip man, i live in Western New York so i am in the same boat, they rip anything out here ice groomers bumps and the occasional new snow days, i defiantly recommend these, i met a kid in vermont who skis the prophets with tele bindings and he loves them

see i was viewing 90mm under foot as being the maximum width for under foot, living in Minnesota i gotta make my turns count, as when i set a ski on edge, i get only 7-8 turns top to bottom of the ski hill.

line measure actual lenght but if you go to thier website you can get the efective edge lengths.

I ride Line Prohet 90's on the East coast and I gotta say, this is the best ski I have ever purchased...They might be a little heavy but they charge like a motherfucker through crud, ice, they're snappy edge to edge so you can lay down wicked turns on groomers and I can slide rails on them just like my park skis (though they aren't meant for that). I am 5'10 about 160 and I ride the 179's and I love them. Highly recommended.

line prophet 90's or this/ last years blends. both come in a 179 and both are 90mm under foot. just depends on your skiing preferences...

I used to use Mojo 90's as my hardpack ski, but now I've moved to something with a 97mm waist.  That's just for hardpack/chopped snow, mind you.  90 works great on harder snow, they'll just be a tiny bit slower switching edges and more stable landing and going fast.  I don't see any reason not to.

Dude you ski at hyland! I ski at hyland also almost everyday with 93mm waist. Almost 100% park though. I love them.

90 is a really good waist, u can ski the whole mountain and i use my old scratch bc with a 90 waist as my urban/backyard skis so if u wanted to take them into the park you would be fine

My big troubles are my hard snow ski and they are supper fun for it. I see no reason not to own a ski under 90mm unless your a racer.

Don't float too well in pow due to being symmetrical but they are the hella good in the park and anywhere else..ANYWHERE, except like really deep pow, more so if it is wet or heavy though.  In light stuff they will be good.

I will never ski a ski that skinny again, anywhere. Anthems will be a good park ski, and pow ski, but not too great when it comes to choppyness.

Noone measures effective length. some companies measure tip to tail through the space above the ski after pressing (K2) and most companies measure the length of the topsheet or base materials before the ski is pressed (most other companies) which is how K2s all seem to be longer than other skis that are sad to be the same size

i ski prophet 90 at hill with 98% man made ice and they rip it up, stable at high speeds, allow me to get in the park every once and a while, and when i take that trip out to a real mountain they still managed fairly well in the pow.

get the prophet 90 and you will never regret it.  i had this year's 90s with jesters and they rip like a mofo yet still wide enough for a bit of pow.

I now have the 100s and even though people say they are pretty good on hardpack and groomers, there are days when i wish I still had the 90s.

If I had the money I would get the whole line of Prophets

isnt that annoying. every thing would be so much easier to compare, if there were standards as to were skis length should be measured.

this is exactly the way Canadians feel when they have to do metric conversions.  get with the program, America!  most of the world uses metric and it just makes sense.  everything is in a multiple of 10 and you don't have to ask orself how many feet in a furlong in a mile etc

I ride 186 prophet 90s and they are a pretty good all mountain ski. The powder performance is so so, but they are great on pretty well everything else. If you only get to ski in powder a little bit I would definitely recommend them.

Ar6's are almost that size.  It's not really a pow ski, but it will work.
