XBOX question

So my friend is selling his xbox (not the 360), 2 controllers, and a shitload of games, all for 175$.  Is this a good deal or not?  It sounds pretty good to me, and i know its in good condition because he never uses it. 
  So whats the verdict? Buy it?

Also, can it play DVDs or do i need an attachment. 
 Pros, Cons?  Anything? Thanks.

id do it for 120, 175 is too much. dont even buy that shit, get a 360

like i dont want a system for graphics and al that crap,  i just want it to have fun and play around and shit.  so good deal or no?

don't spend all that money on it if all the games are sports titles... and make sure the discs are in decent shape. run it for like an hour to before you buy it cuz an xbox will look like it works perfectly until you get it home.

the system itself sells for 50 bucks used so i dont know if he has 125 worth of games in your mind but that seems a little high
