Plywood under topsheet of box? Quick!

Today i'm going to home depot and my ice rink to get some 2x4's and Puckboard. I'm replacing the topsheet on one of my boxes and building a new one. My old box has plywood under it. I don't want to buy a huge piece of plywood so do I need it?

By using plywood you're simply playing it safe. Over time, if the puckboard is supported simply by cross-braces, it will bend and flex over time. The plywood just keeps everything nice and level. If I were you, I'd build it with plywood. That's what I'm going to do!

YESSSSS. OTHERWISE you top sheet will crack where not supported. it happened to me.

plywood is cheap just by some its wont cost more then 30 for some construction grade plywood

yeah just get some plywood and play it safe... in november when i was building my box i got 1/2 inch plywood for like 17 bucks so its not like its expensive and will save u headaches int he long run.

i used puckboard too and it will def warp and crack if its not supported well

The ice rink had no clue what pucboard was so i ordered HDPE.

Does home depot have free scraps of Plywood?
