i hope not i want some BIG ASS jumps. According to the park city brochure there are "50, 60, and 70 ft jumps" Ive been looking but i cant seem to find them anywhere? Does the username ParkCity have any information on where these jumps are?!?!?!?
but seriously where the fuck are the big jumps, i dont care about jibs in jones anymore, i just want big jumps, like the ones that scare all the snowboarders away
You try digging out the boneyard on a sick ass snow year. we are just getting back to it, as well as having to go in and rebuild the lower parks due to all the snow. Yes it's a decent snow year, good for pow, not good for parks.
give the park crew a break. Im sure its not easy digging out the park when we get 8ft of snow in 7 days. Kings, though it has some minor issues, is one of the most fun parks Ive ridden.
After this year I will try to never complain about PC's park again. First off, Mike your doing a great job compared to most of the world and Ive had many years in PCs park that I have enjoyed and many more to come so thank you. AND second of all I won't complain because skiing outside of the park is 100 times better anyways whether its lines, bootas, or urbans whatever its better. But yeah PC's park its way better than what some people have to ski and if you kids want to hit big jumps go to the backcountry, Laaaazyyyysssss.
I've already discussed some of the crowns issues with the cat crew...
I'm not making excuses for myself or my guys, I'm just saying. we've spent the last two weeks digging features out and that's pretty much it. trying to keep them above the snow
Quick question, what is going on with the jumps in Kings right now?
The landings seem real short and steep, though they are fun if you get the speed perfect, they are pretty gnarly if you under/over shoot. Are you guys trying something new?
I haven't been to PC in awhile... the last time I was there though Kings was the best I've seen it. And Mike can design a sick park, which he's done, but he doesn't have total control of snowcat drivers and mother nature.
Goood, ya see kids. Rich is hitting urbans and the backcountry. This is where you fucks should be with a year like this. Instead of complaining about jumps that are better than anywhere else in the world.
what about the people that work in PC and don't have time to get over to the cottonwoods and therefore ski pc on a pow or park day. couldn't those people complain legitimately about wanting a progressive park even though they really shouldn't even be skiing there, they should be in ogden or grizzly. or are there not kids training for comps in CO, as they obviously don't have a legit comp at pc. If people calling out pc is in anyway causing them harm they are soft and should respond to the customer with positive reaction. The brochure claims 50, 60, 70 foot jumps, if they are not going to build them take the stats out of false advertising.
YOU ARE IN UTAH. everywhere is still fun skiing. You can still access legit BC from PC.
Hell, just going over the ridge of PC lands you in Gaurdsmans area, which has many jump spots. Get educated on the BC and then go ski it when the snow is good, and it's safe!
I don't design the parks at all. I try to control the day crew and night crew. It's the directors job to design the parks. So if it isn't exactly what the website says, it's not under my control. And to the respond positivly, since I don't design the parks I'm not going to shoot the shit about what may or may not happen. Hell, we don't even have the park maps up and running yet. For a park guy, it's been crappy weather this season. 2 months of overcast, a ton of new snow and a tiny tiny day crew. I'm pretty blunt about pretty much anything. People that are here alot know that I get pissed off really quickly about things that look like crap or are different than what they should be, before the parks are even open for the day.
Ohh, I thought you made the choices about which rails and shit go where.
So, I take back what I say.
And, I guess the word is a 3 pack of 40 footers or so in Kings? They were pushing all day, so keep us updated.
Mike im sure i would like the parks so much more if you were designing them. considering how well you keep them maintained even if they arent the best feature. I havent been to a mountain with lips and landings as perfect as park citys are ever. except maybe some of the co resorts. But with the weather you guys have gotten youre doing a damn good job of maintaining what we have.
Just got back in from pick n shovel, put in two features below the last jump. Remind the vacationers if you see them to stop overshooting the picknshovel jumps. pretty simple i woulda thought. I'll be headed back out in 2 hours to put in a Sunday Feature in the Crown. it will be there tomorrow only, then the features will be moved to their respective home mid week.
Kings was prime today. The rails were sick and those 2 C boxes together were dope The jumps were sick too except I felt like there wasn't enough room to get speed for the jump after the C boxes but it was still fun. Pick was soooo crowded today but that flat box with the drop is sooo much fun.
yeah the new set up in kings is sick! that disco box is so fun. you can grab spins out since theres such a big drop off. SOOOOOO FUN! the jumps are perfect too! i would be happy if kings stayed like that all year!
I would like to set up a weekend feature a few times a month. and that location was the only one I could use because the crown gets groomed from 1am to 9am and I didn't start the project until 1am. but I do need a new spot because future ideas are longer than they are wider, whereas the U was wider than longer.
they r chopping the 3 pack and making two take offs, aka, change jumps for Queens, then change back to single take offs , then fix the new single take offs because their fucked, then finally after a few days hopefully back to normal. but i am praying they make them perfect right away.
