first of all, after age 26 you start slowly dieing, even if you dont smoke. thats when your physical phitnass starts to decline all the way up till you die. also the average lifespan of humans in the US is 78 years. lung cancer dosn't even develop untill age 50 in smokers. so really smokers are only cutting off like about 15 years from their life. and thats the part of life that you go crazy and need people to take care of you. also ciggaretts have some pluses to them. they are an alternative to caffiene. smokeing a ciggarret before a long distance race will relax your lungs and make it easyer for you to run.

I feel you man, all four of my grandparents died from smoking. 

My grandpa on my mom's side died from lung cancer, he died so young I never even saw him. 

Luckily I got to spend a few years of my life with my moms mother, until I got to see her die pitifully of emphysema, way before her time.

My dads dad died of heart problems...from smoking.

My dads mom survived cancer but died due to complications of heart surgery, her arteries were so brittle from smoking that they basically crumbled when they tried to work with them. (never got to share the world with her either)

Few things piss me off as much as seeing someone I care about smoke/start smoking, especially with all the current generation now knows about smoking. 

And for all of you hard-asses who smoke and don't care...congratulations, you're ADDICTED to a pointless thing thats going to fuck you and the people that care about you over really hard.  You know you're a selfish prick when you don't care/brag about something like smoking.

I want someone to come up with a more mature reason for smoking other than "I do what I want and I don't care"

Wait a sec....lemme check...YUP...that is THE most arrogant thing I have ever heard. Quite frankly I am dumbfounded by your thought process. You make it sound like after 26 shit starts falling off your body and you start to rot into nothing.  I don't care who you are, 26 is still fucking young. Your post was so painfully dimwitted and downright RETARDED I really don't know how you knew how to type it. I know PLENTY of "older folk" that could most likely out ski you and out run you. Oh and I'm pretty sure one cigarette takes 12 minutes off you life. If you ask me, that's SO not worth it.

your life is your life. and inhaling something that you know could take 15 years off your life is clearly not thinking. when you're dead, you're dead. nothing happens, you don't exist, you don't feel happier or sadder, you don't even feel. its nothing. and your saying that you would rather die 15 years younger and experience nothing, than live an extra 15 years with the possibility of medical aid?

and how do you know nothing isn't a blessing, socreties once said that nothing could be a great blessing. firt of all you wouldn't know its nothing because it is in fact nothing. second you would never have any stress, or pain, sorrow. sure you couldn't go skiing, but at age 60 i dont think you could anyway.

Yeah, both my parents are over 50 and ski. They are still in great shape, my mom can ski for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the summer she bikes ans swims. I great aunt is 70 and still swims, even if she broke her hip last summer.

Dying is dying, but id rather a peaceful one without weeks of agony while doing something I love.

Sorry for being a party pooper anistaski for telling you the horrible truth behind smoking and how it affect friends and family. Please stop smoking while you can.

What are you, 12? Are you in that phase of development amoung youth where you form outrageous claims and instantly believe that they are true?

First of all, American life expectancy isn't 78, its 77, and it is just that, an average.
Averages such as this take into account only average lifespans, such as 70-85, add them up and divide, as I'm sure you know. (Or you should).
It does NOT take into account outliers such as exceptionally old people, or people who die exceptionally young.

Secondly, YOU will not be skiing at 60 because you smoke. My dad is 55, and still shreds. My neighbors are 66 and 64, and they would DESTROY you in anything athletic. They are in better shape than any young person I know, at that age. (They were gym teachers, but are still an excellent example of how strong humans can stay).
Another example is my dad's friend, who is 96 and skis Crystal mountain still. The mountain literally MADE him retire from ski patrolling because he got so old, but he still shreds. Excercise keeps the body alive.

Thirdly, nothing is not a blessing. It is merely bliss. No need to elaborate on this point.

Why don't you go back to your ignorant little world and hope for nothingness, and leave the skiing and clean air to us. I don't care what you do in your own house, but the clean air laws are something I can agree to, because I don't want that shit in my lungs any more than the next person. You have a pessimistic view on life, and because of it, you shall never receive the joyous fruits of a good life. I pity you.

i am hopelessly addicted, although i will say there is nothing better than a cig after sex, holy shit it just blows you away, also good while drinking (which is how i started to begin with) but i tried to stop cold turkey made it four days before the withdrawal headaches set in, then i said fuck it it's not worth it right now, so i'm back on it

i smoked for 7 years and was just recently able to give it up. i'll frank here, what do you have to be proud about? NOTHING!! there is no pride in addiction

what's so good about smoking? the late night coughing fits? the lack of cardiovascular endurance? the "i can't wait for this to be over so i can have a smoke"? or maybe it's the "im killing myself and i don't care...

i would consider myself a "social smoker" if someone has a cig i will smoke it. also if im drinking i usually tend to smoke then. or if it's after i smoke trees or something. usually end up smoking not even a pack of cigs a month...never really find myself wanting them so oh well.

It's just retarded on so many levels. 
First of all the whole breathing thing.  And it makes you, and eveything you touch smell bad.  Turns your teeth colors.  Fucking EXPENSIVE!  Buzz? yeah not really.  And after a while there's no buzz at all, just feeling ok when you're smoking, then feeling stressed because you have no nicotine.

I will let you know for certain though that you do not begin to die after 26. Winners of some of the most grueling endurance events in the world are over 26. Learn kid. Haha I have no problem with people smoking in private, or in designated areas, but it was true, good progress when smoking was banned in public places. And if wanting to not die by lung cancer or other respiratory diseases is being a wuss, then I'm damn proud to be one.
