There is no such thing as smoker's pride: My grandparents died because of cigarettes related illness. Ill tell you one story: Its about my grandmother, she smoked for 30 years, had cancer once before but caught on time.
It was in June of 2004, my grandmother (64) was the victim of a hit and run accident. She spend 2 days in the hospital, then was released.A week later, she started puking and it went on for a week. She went from 120lbs to 80lbs in a week. My family drove down to her home, about 8 hours from home just to check her in the hospital because she could get out of bed.Doctors noticed a lump developing above her breast. A biopsy showed it was cancer. She was immediately treaded with strong doses of Chemo. All the possible side effects took place. She lived like this for a month.
She got better with a combination of drugs. But one night, she started to act weird, she was grumpy, irrational, and confused, but not enough to grow concern. That night, while she was getting some water, she lost her breath. She was breathing and her pathways were completely open, but she was suffocating. We called the ambulance. She was scared shitless. We went to see once again at the hospital to see on her condition. The doctor said she suffered a mild heart attack, so weak that she never knew. He also informed us that she has terminal cancer due to the smoking she was doing. At this point, the lump crushed her left lung and collapsed. For a few weeks, her condition stabilized, then went downhill. She was in a lot of pain, her skin was dry and all you can see were her bones, she looked worst than those Africa kids. She gasped for air on every breath, but still the lump increased size. On the last three days, she slipped in and out of consciousness. her last words to me were:"why did I start this filthy habit?"
On August 12th, 2004, she passed away from multiple cancers that all started in the lungs, exactly 4 days before my 16th birthday.
My point is smoking kills you slowly, you maybe too young to understand this. but later, you slow and agonizing death will put a strain on you and your loved ones. i still remember my grandmother apologies to me for all this. So please, dont smoke.
