Gangsta image

Ok, so this has been bothering me for some time. What the hell does the gangsta image have to do with skiing whatsoever? Everytime I go into the park I see about 20 teenyboppers dressed in oversized hoodies, bandannas, and flat brimmed sideways backward hats trying to talk like their favorite rapper that they saw on mtv last night. My question is why?? What does this have to do with skiing?? These are rich suburban white kids who are on a ski hill!! It just doesnt make any sense to me, maybe I'm just getting too old but it seems like there is a lot of confusion on the slopes these days.

This is true...But i also think it has  a little to do with the fact that no one else on the hill really likes kids that hang out in the park...A day of skiing for us is much different then the if you went to the mountain with a family of 4....we ski differently we want different things from resorts, so why not dress differently too....its also a calling card to other park skiiers....when you see a kid ripping the woods or backcountry in a jersey and tall tee I always get more stoked to see its one of my kind!

On a loosely related note,

A few weeks ago, ski patrol yelled at me for skiing with my pants down (my belt just sucks ass so I gave up) complaining that I was offending people.

I was wearing a fully covering base layer. 

It wasnt even as tight as racer pants...

What the fuck?

Exactly. you wear whatever the fuck you want because you can. you are safe on the hill, the wrong colours arent going to get you shot. Have you seen any of next years outerwear (especially burton)? The rediculous fashion is one of the good things about skiing. There are a lot of people who dont take chances and and dress like everyone else, but there is so much out there right now that you can really create your own personal style. Skiing is growing fast and is really open to new things, you can wear and ski on whatever you want.

Ok, so this has been bothering me for some time. Why don't people use the searchbar if they want peoples opinions on pointless rants??  Everytime I log onto NS i some giant turd bitchin about something that doesn't concern them at all.  My question is why?? What does this have to do with skiing?? These are just kids (adults too) who are dressing how they feel comfortable!!  It just doesn't make sense to me why people care what other people are doing.

it's because the sport of skiing is filled with 12 year olds that think they are a big deal. that's different though.

some people are down with hip hop culture which is fine, but that's not the case for most skiers...it's weird.

I agree with the person that started this thread. When I go out I hit the slopes with clothes that I find warm  and comfortable. Kids these days find the flashiest clothes that look so gangster that they have to throw away once they fall in them. All of these faggots think the mountain is one big fashion show and try to look as intimidating as possible, which doesn't work at all. And I don't want to hear one of you silly neon green red yellow tie die orange faggots saying that what you wear is comfortable because in reality your parents are paying god like amounts of money for you to look cool on the slopes. Your friends might think you look TOTALLY COOL but in reality you are indeed a rich homo thug whos bringing the wrong picture into free skiing. To all of you XXXX size purple hoodie with your neon green pants with the waist down to your knees, YOU ARE GAY AND YOU DON"T LOOK COOL!

i honestly thought it was a phase that was going to wear thin about two years ago. but it seems to be gaining popularity. as much as its in style now, its sorta not. kinda played out too much in my opinion. its kinda rediculous to wear huge baggy clothes that soak up water like a sponge. all you can ski is park dressed like that, it would only hold someone back in the backcountry and such. i favor gear that is functional over impractical fashion

No no , I don't think i'm the shit... I KNOW i'm the shit, and I know that you are not. Honestly, whats the point of taking  an hour to get dressed to set up your flashy look for your day out on the mountain. Hmmm lets seee what super duper gear am I gonna look cool in today??? first I'll put on my orange under armor, then I'll put on my camoflague orange baggy pants that help me blend in with the snow, hmm then I'll throw on 3 t-shirts, 2 thermals, my XXXXXXXXXXXL hoodie that goes to my knees. it's 13 degrees out but maybe I won't wear a jacket today because it will cover up my gangsta hoody that mom bought me. Next I have to set up my noggin apparel with three pink bandanas, my helmet ..gosh lets not talk about that my parents make me where it but it still looks cool cuz i have 34 stickers on it. Also my goggles, can't forget those, they're pink to match my bandana and my new pink boots which come last because real men where pink. By this point you have been getting ready for 58 minutes and you just lost out on 3 runs.

Oh did I forget about the walk that I have to do as one of those cool gangster skiers? I have to drag both skies behind me in seperate hands and walk like theres a chiwawa hangin from my balls. But don't worry, the girls dig it, and now everyone will notice how gangster I am which means I don't even have to take a run to show people how freakin steezy I am!!!
