Skiing getting more X Games Recognition

So after CR & Candide made all the snowboarders look like babies in the pipe comp last year skiers are getting the national coverage they deserve. Including SportsCenter covering x-games skiing live.




SLTskier: there are so many girls in freeskiing now have you noticed that
stowek2: yep..theres a few skilled ones...a good number who love it and want to progress, then a bunch of morons that are trying to impress the boys by wearing as little clothing as possible and as much make-up as possible on the hill
SLTskier: yeah however im one that trys to progress and impress the boys :-)

they have better terrain then mount snow for a slopestle course and they actually change the course every year, unlike mount snow

nah m snow changes their shit up on us
i actually liked their set up early year.. it was a downhill rail gap then an uphill rail then a jump30ft then a down kink then another jump steep volcano jump 20ft gap then a small set up booter for the 60 and 45

I think it's great that they decide to have it at Buttermilk again. That park is purty sick and plus they really like for slopestyle because it has the longest terrain park in the world, it's great for getting speed. I remember in Mt. Snow they had like two rails, 2 tables, rail, then money booter. But Crested Butte was worse than Mt. Snow, those two years they were there, CB had horrible conditions, and their snowmaking system isn't the best either. Breck would be cool to have it.

FUCK that, everyone knows that CO always holds is down, the East Coast aint got shit on Aspen, Breck, even as low as Keystone for that matter, besides, they have to look at total interest and output at the events, if you hold it in one place, everyone will know where it is, CO REPRESENT

yeah but holding it in VT is smart as well centrally located to NY(new york city, college towns),MA(boston,worcester,Umass Amherst),NH(UNH,Keene State, Manchester,Concord) then a lil further of a drive is Maine but hey im just making my opinion

i personally would want it in the east so i could go, but it is abetter idea to hold it out west as far as the terrain is concerned, but back to the topic, it is sweet if skiers are really gettin more coverage/respect

ok i wanted my thread to go another way but fine. the vt open had a 70-75ft table and a sick channel gap. that shit is built at the end of the year just for the us open & vt open. why the fuck would they want to bring the x-games back here though. do you know how much money they make by having it out west. fuck the tiny northeast...they have the entire west coast traveling to aspen to see it. and how bout that weather...how many of you went to the vt open. it was regular stratton weather. cloudy as hell, raining/wet snow, and cold. why would they want that to have a huge comp when they can have blue bird days. also you know how much tilling it would take to get our bulletproof landings to the nice softness of the jumps out there. gallant just give up shit. its never coming back here again unless global warming turns the ice coast into conditions like the west.

The winter X-games doesnt just have skiing and snowboarding... like the population of wyoming and montana came down to see the snowmobiling

Having it back east was OK. But they made soo much money in aspen why would they pass that up...

no way can skiers boost safely 17+ feet out of mt snow consistantly

If anyone remembers the initial point of this thread, I totally agree with soxripper. What little skiing footage they showed from the X-Games in the past has constisted mostly of brief 2 minute musical entourages that consisted of about 90% bails. Anyone watching who didn't know about skiing would definitely have gotten the impression that skiing is just a big joke and very much still a mere sideshow to snowboarding. Now after CR, Candide, and others busted out huge last year skiing is finally starting to get more of the air time it deserves.

oh... and soxripper...'dyou say they get more attendance when the x-games are west coast?? think again. it might even be that crowd control was too tough to manage so they moved the event to a more exclusive location.

Hey Brian Gallant... SCREW YOU!!!! Aspen is not made up of rich yuppies... there are good, nice ski people here... that arent rich. Buttermilk has a nice park, and i am glad its here again.

And i bet you wouldnt even hit our 70 footer (not 100)... i bet you would just go around and look at me hitting it and say wow...

Krongos- Mt Snow prolly is the best park in the east and it should go back to the east to be fair to everything and everybody, but just for the record you have to admit that west have better parks... i mean compare Mammoth to Mt Snow, or Sunday River, or Okemo or wherever you guys like the best... now seriously which one is better?
