So, yeah, I've lived in the UP of michigan since i was like 7, next year I'm going to college at MSU and want to know of any decent ski areas around there. I've been riding ripley and bohemia for years now and feel like there's nothing that compares downstate
anyway, im coming down in a couple of weeks and though I might check out some hill, any suggestions?

If i went to tech i would end up living with my parent...so no, not gunna happen,
Anyway, thanks maybe ill check out crystal, Ive been to nubs knob before and it had a better park than anything in the UP, but not really much powder or anything...plus it was way more expensive

Around MSU...you're pretty much fucked. Brighton is about a 30 min drive, but it's a shithole. I usually go to Mt. Holly, its like 45-60 min drive, but it's better. Their park isn't that bad in comparison to some of the other hills in south east/west michigan. It can be pretty expensive though, it sucks.

Your not gonna find anything that compares to the UP...end of story. I also came from Houghton and now I go to Western in Kalamazoo and have settled on Crystal which isn't bad and has a decent park, but as an overall hill its not close to as good as ripley, bohemia, or marquette, who are you by the way?

andrew is pretty versatile he grew up skiing ripley which means he'll ski anything. for example we have a 30 foot tall lip here for a 7 foot gap at nearly a right angle, not a hip, just a launch you have to carve off to make the landing thats 30 feet tall. It's really the wost jump idea i have ever seen (i'm thinking someone is going to brake their back off this) but Andrew would be out trying corked 7s off of it just the same. the kid is burly, he knows how to ski, and he won't ever complain. I've learned not to complain and now use all the jumps here like quarterpipes, and do lip tricks. so i'd think crystal is dope too because basically all you need is a mound and I'm stoked.

Nope, I've probably seen him but I really don't know most of the local crowd there. And to fixthedamnpark as far as LP parks go crystal isn't way to bad... yea you don't hit jumps there so I've just been riding a ton of pipe which is actually usually in pretty good shape on fridays and saturdays.... no its not a huge pipe but when its cut right you can boost about 10 feet out which isn't terrible. and they do have a nice variety of rails, so really the only place that they lack is in there jumps... so just ride pipe, its sweeter anyways. and bikerocker has a point....I'm not really picky, i'm just happy that I've got a place to ski and thats what really matters. If kids would spend half as much time skiing as they do bitching then they would be about 100 times as sweet.........

seriously, this is the problem with our parks everyones attitude is that this will HAVE to do, lets just DEAL with it. WHY i ask you, i mean, its not hard to make a good jump a good rail set up, the people just need to put some effort into it and not suck. Cannonsburg is a sick little hill and super fun to ride STRICTLY because noah and all of us down here EXPECT and WANT a good park. We think we deserve it and its possible, but everyone needs to not be satisfied with the park peoples lack of attitude and skill. I am not satisfied with crystal inthe least bit, they have tons of money and resources now stop letting them steal your money and lets get the park up to par with what it should be...

word... i know the guy who builds the park at pine knob and if its sick i def give him a thumbs up or some sign or approvable. i have never felt that left down to ever say anything negative though.
cannonsburg was a pretty fun time for the rare air fest i went to last year. they kept the jump in pretty good condition.

I probably won't be back up at crystal for about a month but the next time that I am and the pipe is in good shape we'll bust out the camera...

Haha, at first i read this and thought it was another pony up don't be a bitch thread. but after re-reading it, I like your style. We've been doing some harsh campaigning up here, it just doesn't work because the groomer and manager at the hill don't respect anyones opinions., but we keep fighting. jason and I are going to put pipes at the tops of the lips, and turn them all into the quarterpipes they need to be. my pipe skills are going to explode!
