SO today i went on a ski trip to Gunstock Mtn, NH. The day was going great ya know, Me and Therealbillus hit the park in the morning but decided to ski the CLOSED glades in the afternoon. So we ski down the closed glade, and it was ok, there was some stuff stickin out, but most of it was covered by powder. But the kind of powder we skiied was that crap kind with a layer of icy coating about 3 inches under it, so its really easy to get stuck, and harder to turn. So, on the next run we hit the top part of the closed glades, and i almost fell into the rest of the woods not skiiable but i survived. He and I stopped , and all f sudden we both yelled at the same time, "There's a natural jib!" And what do u know a natural jib, so we jibbed it.

However, on the next run i fell and hit my head flat against a tree stump. ouch. After i checked myself to make sure i wasnt paralized, which i wasnt, so i consider my self a lucky SOB. SO then on the same run, therealbillus, falls and flips over these sharp stunts. Man, we were both extremely lucky on that run. So i say that my helmet saved my life. However, my luck ran out.
On the last run of the day we(mostly I with persuasion) were convinced that we should ski a run by the name of "Hotshot" which was also closed. We saw some people do it earlier, so we thought why the hell not? But our friend Chris whod also been skiing with us today, decided to tag along. Now Chris is a good skiier, but couldnt handle that shitty powder. SO after waiting for Chris for 10 minutes while trying to ski it ourselves we got to the bottom to find two skipatrolmen awaiting us. Now, I have never had an interaction w/ skipatrol before like this one. They talked to us and asked us where we were from, why we thought th run was closed, and how people after had gone under the rope as well. I felt really bad, becuase i would be my fault if others saw us duck it, and think "why the hell not" just like we did, and get hurt, and have Skipatrol haul their asses out of there. Now i know why i dont ski closed trails. So i encourage you NS'ers to do the same. The first ski patrol guy was harsher than the second. The second one said at the end " ya know we are not trying to be dicks, but we are just doing our job." Which is the truth. Those are my two revelations today. Wear a helmet because life will never be the same if you get paralyzed or seriously injured, and dont ski closed trails, because they are closed for a reason. Thanks.
