NS, how bad is this gouge?

I've got a pretty nasty gouge on my skis that I believe was caused by a tree I failed to notice under the snow.   It doesn't appear as though the core of the ski has been pierced but the gouge does go right to the core.  I'm worried cause the gouge is right up to the edge of the ski.  I don't think that it's so bad that I need professional work done on it but I need to know for sure whether or not it's as minor as I think. Please let me know about that gouge and whether or not my plan to repair it is solid.

  My plan is to file down the plastic that has been forced up above the base so that the gouge is smooth.
  From there I plan to cut some cross-hatches into the base around the gouge.  I'll then put a thin layer of epoxy in the gouge followed by p-tex.  From there it's the basic fill and file down to make it flush with the base.

if you never plan to sell them then I think it would be okay without a repair, but I'd still recommend getting a little epoxy or p-tex on that.

epoxy the inside part and ptex the outside.

Yeah i had one of those that was about 2 feet long on my board and i couldnt go straight, it made me turn right haha. I just sliced off the extra plastic with a razor and filled in the scratch.

Thats a core shot.  Get it fixed or it will rot the core.

Your plan will work, but may I suggest instead of filing you cut out any base material that has separated from the core and then fill and so on. This will insure the base will not continue to delam or bubble.

Dude I would p-tex it but If you don't know how to ptex then I would take it to a shop. The should fix it for 10-15 dallarz

not a core shot. it hasnt touched the core of the ski.
just a simple gash that could be fixed yourself or taken to the shop i guess
