I've got a pretty nasty gouge on my skis that I believe was caused by a tree I failed to notice under the snow. It doesn't appear as though the core of the ski has been pierced but the gouge does go right to the core. I'm worried cause the gouge is right up to the edge of the ski. I don't think that it's so bad that I need professional work done on
it but I need to know for sure whether or not it's as minor as I think. Please let me know about that gouge and whether or not my plan to repair it is solid.
My plan is to file down the plastic that has been forced up above the base so that the gouge is smooth.
From there I plan to cut some cross-hatches into the base around the gouge. I'll then put a thin layer of epoxy in the gouge followed by p-tex. From there it's the basic fill and file down to make it flush with the base.
any feedback is greatly appreciated.
