ok, i can do anything below 5(except switch unnatural), such as cork 3, 3, switch 3, all that, but ive still only landed like 3 540s. whats up with that, ill get hella speed, pop and spin as hard as i can, and ill spin 3 real fast and then the last 180 will be so slow, that i wont land it...so why is that? anyone else have this problem? how did you fix it?


ps-i can do 540s in the pipe

i was hitting the 55 footer at mammoth, so the jump size isnt the problem, also ive been able to spin 3 for like 3 years now

That is a good tip.^ Once I get the first 360 down, I just think of it as a 180 and that always helps me get the last portion of the 5 and to determine if I am spinning to fast or if I need to speed it up a little. Hope it helps.

usually what i do is as i end the first 3, i spot and as i spin(left) i turn my head left and look down at my landing, but not around at all, just down

He then went straight at the jump but right before he hit it he stopped and ran back up to me and kicked me in the shin really hard with his ski boot and touched my bum while i was down. Next while I was writhing in pain in the snow he put on a little pointy dunce hat and red speckled glasses and pranced about singing 'I am cookie fairy! the cookie fairy! Would you like some Chocolate chip cookies? how about some peanut peacan cookies? i had that problem learning 7s, i would spot at 360 (you at 180) out of habit, it took me forever to learn to spot at 540 instead of 360 (360 instead of 180 for you)

gymnasts call it 'getting blocked up' you have to focus on looking where you are going and not where you've been.

if all else fails, try doing a few small ones with your eyes closed till you get the feel for it

i was doing 3's, then i realized i could easily spin more, so i just kept spinning. you have to commit to it to stick it.

If you got switch 3s down, think of it like this: hit the jump and try to learn to instinctively turn 180, then from there just work your switch 3 magic. It may sound weird, but that's how i did it. I accidently learned 5s when i realized the jump i was doin my switch 3s was bigger, so i tried to squeeze out that extra 180. I kept skidding around the last 90, so i tried it straight and stomped it. You sound like you freeze the spins like me. Use the switch 3 mentality and maybe that will give you the ability to keep looking in the air

for me what happened was i would always let go of my grab at 360 as if i wa going to land, and then my last 180 would always be sloppy and hard to land, so i just tried holding the grab longer and letting myself spin, this will only work if your getting good air (which you say you are) so give it a try.

Just practice them off the flat ground in your shoes. Just force yourself to always be looking for that last 180. Just keep practicing this and you should be set for the season.

i used to have this problem last year i always kept landing foward it helps me with 5's is i started to do them with grabs instead of straight and now i can do em straight or grabbed like my favorite is lui kang. just do a lot on tramp it feels the same for me on skis as on tramp over mt snows last hit.just spin your 3 and toss it a lil harder and look around a lil and keep your body rotating while your head is locked on where your gonna land. what happens when you kland in 5 how do you fall? too far forward? backward? off axis? ya know give us a lil more detail

keep your head looking for the landing. Dont spin as fast as you can, if you see the landing you will come around. Then just stomp switch.

i always land way too far forward, like ill land completely on my tips and usually the pressure knocks my skis off, one time this happened i caught an edge in the face and got 5 stitches

yeah dan this happened to me 2 seasons ago just ask lempke he saw a few bails try doin them with luis and spinning a lil more forward too.. you might be settign the rotation with the steepness of the take off and that used to fix shit to.and just keep your head tucked a lil more and throw it a lil more than a 3 and you should stomp it

just use your head and spot your landing then look back up teh hill to stop your rotation.

just let it spin. practise it on a small jump and spin a normal 3. then spin it more and more until you spin 5. that's how i learned to do it.

If you're landing switch and you're landing on your toes, you're taking off in the backseat.
