ACL surgery

i tore my acl last year, and have to get it fixed before i can ski again. i think im gonna miss out on the whole season. ill jsut have to make up for it over the summer and next season. who else has had acl surgeries? can you ski the same afterwards?

it depends on how bad it is, but probably not for a while, and make sure you get a good dr. A friend of mine tore hers and it didnt heel right, so they had to do the operation twice.

I had surgery last december, and couldnt ski all season.. It's all good now, and I NEED to go skiing soo bad this season it hurts, but other than that.. its not the worst

i had mine in march. im getting ready to go. everything is fine so far i just dont have all of my quad muscle back yet.

i tore mine in feb. of 02 and i skiied last season with a knee brace, no surgery. def. get a knee brace now, you don't want to miss the season. the brace almost returns your knee to normal. like 90% of what it's normally. get surgery in april after the season. talk to the orthotics people (prostethics - artificial limbs) people, they usually also do sports braces. don't get a wal mart neoprene one, that dont work. mine's metal, and works wonders.

get a cti2 carbon fiber brace, they're so light and they have a connector that screws into your boot for better protection

I skied last year with a brace from Donjoy... its like 600 bucks i think, i could be way off. Insurance pays for it though. I had surgery in July, and will be skiing by xmas.

donjoys are way more spendy then 600 green backs. They are custom fitted and whatever they do. My doctor told me after i got in shape they are pointless. So he says here is a neo prene sleeve to tell your head its not ready and make you remember that its just not quite there. But then when ski season comes around i will be up to birdie.

i had a dog bite my leg right where my acl is and ripped it then i killed that dog with a 12 gauge

i tore mine january,surgery in feb and i was skiing on it in june, i could do rails just fine, and little jumps, but couldnt do anything over big hits, my knee just wasnt strong enough.
