DVD vs Mini Dv vs Hard Drive

I have no clue about camcorders. What are the pros and cons of each of these and what is the best in your opinion? and why?

mini Dv are the best cause they can get the best quality and they are cheap and essey use and to export
hard drive the program for editing is mad expensive and the clips get saved as a wack format
and i know nothing about DVD and since i know nothing about it i assume they are not that good casue if they were good i would have heard about them

mini dv provides the best quality out of all them...film will always win :)
speaking of film...aren't alot of big movies still made with actual film? then converted to digital?

yes you are^
all u have to do to get mini DV film on to your computer is put the tape in your camera conect the fire wire to both your computer and camer and go to your editing program and chose "capture"
it is really simple try googling it if i didnt make sence

because i have been doing that exactly but with a usb cable, and it isnt working...

the only way i have ever captured is with a fire wire
and im not sure if u can do it with a usb cord but i dout it

dont be hatin cambrowne.....ok..yea you are right you can only transfer over using firwire when you have minDV....there is only one exception to this rule and that is with SOME select new Sony miniDV cams that let you use USB..besides that you will need an "IEEE 1934"(FIREWIRE) cable and input. As regards to the best Camera. like the others i would definetly recomend minDV...it will give you the best quality and security...they always work and they are cheaper thatn the alternitivs. DVD is not great because the miniDVDs are expensive and the disics could get scratched. Hard Drive Cambrowne is right they will save in some stupid format most of the time and for skiiing it is the ablsolut worse choice becuase you drop your cam and that could be it....you could loose everything plus it will cost a shitload to get the shot hardrive replaced. i have had a Canon miniDV cam for years and it has never failed.. i have droped it at the top of a pipe before on an icy day and it was fine and so was the tape.

I agree on the film being the best quality. I still use it when I do my freelance stuff. When I'm doing other projects like weddings and things I use Digital. It can run cheaper and to untrained eye you can't tell the difference.
No the big films actually use digital now. Its easier for them to work on and they can just send the files to studios in a matter of seconds. I do believe that LOTR was the 1st to be shot in all digital.
