Cleaning lenses

so ive got a few little smudges on my camera lenses
and i dont have any of those little lens cleanings things left i dont know where they got to...

but im just wondering if it would be really bad to just use some other fine fabric like a goggle case or something to wipe it down...
and just a bit of water...


just wondering if thats horrible or anything...probably a dumb question but yeah there you go haha

a good micro fiber cloth is what you need.  You can get them pretty much anywhere.

yeah i know but im going up to my mountain right after school and my parents arent gonna wanna stop anywhere...

so im kinda looking for an alternative to that

your goggle case should do just fine. like the white case you get with oakleys.

i;ve used a tshirt before, is that bad? I went into the photo room the other day and gave it a nice lint free cloth shine down.


Also, i got some lens cleaner solution, its like alcohol and water, and a cloth. i sprayed some onto this cloth and rubbed on, but the cloth has lint or something on it cause small pieces stayed on the lens

T-shirt? Baaad idea. You take a huge gamble that there may be dust particles in the fabric and scratching the lens. What kind of cloth did you use with the lens cleaner solution?

A goggle bag should work fine, they're made to clean your lenses with. Using water won't do much good; it won't break up any oils that are on the lens. If your parents have any vodka, put a little bit on the cloth to wipe down the lens.

I try to avoid touching my lenses, but when I do I use a microfiber cloth. normally I breath on it so it fogs a little then wipe it down. I read it's bad to use regular glasses lens cleaning solutions because they can corrode the coatings on the camera's lens. I've never had to do more, but if I did I would def. go out and purchase a kit for a few bucks. I also make sure the cloth is clean too.
