Designing a skiwear line.. NEED YOUR INPUT!

zebra stripes with pink and neon green. the zipper must be diagonal too. also put like plaid pockets on that shit. ahaha.

I still dig all red... its not too bright but looks sick in my opinion

I still want a full Gore-tex suit with a killer pant/jacket integration system, decent number of pockets (only the top two on the pants and two handwarmer, one outside and one inside Napolean on the jacket), guarded pit zips on the outsides of the pants and underneath the arms of the jacket that don't snag, great gaitors without boot hooks because they only get in the way, and a nice pastel yellow color to the whole thing.

That would rock my socks. Hard.

bhahahahaha i just thought of some thing else that might be pretty cool. build gloves/mittens into the jacket.

dont forget that it also needs to be warm and waterproof, not just look good. so many coats out there look cool and cost a shit load, but they arent very warm

you could try and experiment with new fabrics like vinyl or something different. maybe get like marine grade vinyl. that shit is water proof as hell and i'd imagine pretty wind resistent. and you could do some fabric accents with like a reflective fabric around the bottom and out lines of the pockets.and then some suede for other accents I'd also like to see softer fabrics next to your face that don't freeze up when you breathe onto them. and sometimes when you ski in a t-shirt you dont want the slippery fabric on your arms maybe throw some fleece in there. and i want vents in better spots like along the neck line or like on your chest so when you go down the hill they really cool you down on those spring days. and have BIG zippers so you can open and close things with your gloves or mittens on. and like when you have cinch cords there should be a place to put them so they dont get caught on your skis or your poles or anything else. i also want warm pockets. like on a cold day just walking to your car when you already took all your stuff off and you throw your hands in your pockets you want them to be warm. so like closer to your body with more insulation and wind protection. hmmmm for snowpants id like to see bigger main pockets. its hard to put anything in there with gloves on or anything. and for those of us who dont like wearing pants with our snowpants more wind protection in the crotch region. for vents in the snow pants. i'd like some vents right on my belt line like the inguenal region of the body. i dont like it when your vents catch air tho so there should be somethign to break the air before it gets to your vents so you dont puff up like crazy. the sizing is picked by the consumer so that really doesnt matter. as for colors not everyone is going to agree on one color so just do what you want. and a good place to put your tickets or pass. like all snow pants and jackets have them in a weird place. they either get covered up by your jacket or somethign else gets in the way. for insulation i'd like to see like a canvas envelope with some nice wool or down in there. stitched like fish scales kinda with the shell on over that. and stitch the shell to the insulation in a few spots to make sure you dont get clumps of insulation bunched up. that shit gets uncomfortable. i dont like incourporated pants and jackets cause if you dont buy the set you have extra stuff that just gets in the way and half the people dont know how to use it then they end up ripping it out and damaging the jacket. watch for the pit sag too. make sure you get the cut of the shoulders done really nicely. and maybe make the inside part from like a spandexy material so that it doesnt totally tear all the time just stretches. and have some thick fabric in the parts that gets used a lot. like the back of the bottoms of your snow pants should have some nice thick canvas like stuff under the outside shell with lots of line of sewing to keep it together and if it rips its still on there. do a couple like three or four rows of sewing around all edges cause busted seems are just gay. and maybe on the jacket some people dont like to zip it all the way up so like maybe some webbing across the chest neck region so the wind doesnt whip in and out of there and steal your body heat. and dont make the back collar stuff so thick cause when you have a hat on and like a hoodie on underneath your jacket it all gets jammed and that gets uncomfortable so maybe a little more room back there but make it stretchy material so its not like loose or something to let wind in and out. for belt loops on your snowpants. make them the right size or provide a belt with the snow pants or incorporate one in cause some times if you have a small belt with big loops they sag and get tucked under and stuff that sucks or if your favorite belt doesnt fit or if you have a studded belt those suck. hmmmmm i think thats enough for now.

Have fun finding good white fabric, and welcome to the business of trying to start an outerwear line. It's fun. HFS should be up in a month or so.

i'm a big fan of holden outwerwear
earthy colors, but they use some really cool materials with texture and asym cuts on their jackets.
very pulled together, polished look
bunch of hardware stuff like buckles and buttons

and don't forget....pockets pockets pockets!

i like the older Holen outerwear much better than there current stuff. especially their website, all those little videos get annoying but I do like their stuff.

You can also try DNA, Orage and maybe even whats left of Aeryx. Even if they cant provide you with material, I'm sure they could point you in a better direction than we can.

I emailed 686 last night and their director of apparel got back to me and has been super helpful about fabrics.. as in willing to send out stuff from their 07/08 line. I was so excited to hear that. I emailed her further and she invited me to come out to Las Vegas to meet up with them for the SIA trade show (!!!!) I'd join them with their company dinner, see the behind the scenes stuff at the show, and the snowboarding line launch with Levis.

I like things that have two contrasting colors, like a black jacket with neon green/orange pockets, words, designs.

long, not fat jacket with a solid color, but different colored pockets/covers w/e
matching pants also long with a really low crotch and plenty of boot sagg

and purple is in

why would you want a low crotch then its not functionable.

get a pair of trousers/pants and stitch 3 stripes down the side of each leg

damn that's awesome.

throw in at least one dope secret pocket somehwere, secret pockets are supe key on jackets

so you dont hav to low ride a ton
and how is it not functional
your medic crotch goes to your knees and you ski fine

all i ask is that you dont make the gear cheaply, be sure to have fully taped seams NOT CRITICALLY it drives me nuts when i get wet on my forearms cuz those seams arent taped and i rest my arms on the chair lift. you should get ahold of austin the owner of Saga outerwear and ask where he orders his materials from. their great material. his site is sagaouterwear.com.

Make the pants spandex tight. but hang the crotch down to like the knee region...like someone picked up a pair of way too big stretch ski pants at the thrift store.

also, jackets with plastic bags sewn in between the lining and shell fabric for EXTRA waterproofing.  Then dip it all in melted scented wax to waterproof the seams.  It will make the jacket smell like whatever you want.  In fact, you could custom dip jackets for customers...make mine scented like mountain lilac and sage.  kthnx

instead of specializing in one type of style, i'd say go for a little bit of both...

some earth/neautral colors...

then your crazy/neon colors

that way it can please a good amount of poeple...and not matter what people will always want earth or neon...neither will ever die.

And the suggestion above to find fabric to call burton is a good thing, i'd try that then (i haven't looked) but maybe on the tags of your snowpants/jacket say something about where the fabric came from? just a thought
