sammy comes to mind as he always is trying to get his face in front of a camera. granted good skier but certainly not the results compared to a guy like Riddle and others who are easily as talented

good point djd...i'd throw a few great euro guys like Kalle along with Riddle and Tucker Perkins too.....they looked great in Tignes competing agianst Rainville, Gagnier, Houle, Favre etc

sammy may be a bit of a punk but so are alot of pros when your looking from the outside in. to be honest i would have to say dash longe (sp). he is a sick skier but just nothing to special. i could be missing some of his sick stuff tho.

you guys are retarted... how many of you have met sammy?  you dont know shit.  he didnt get 2nd at x-games for gettin his face infront of the camera.. and being in ski movies, isnt that what its about, getting your face infront of a camera and skiing so you fuckers can enjoy a quality movie... you all are fucking stupid.

Johnny Mosley hahha just kidding, I am surpirse this thread isnt full of hate like every other thread on NS, I would have to agree it is hard to say a pro is overrated because they do have their own style. Under rated, i would have to throw in Coby, you hear his name alot but he is that much of a media Icon yet like Peter O, Simon, Jon, Sammy.. (oh yeah I am not hating on these guys you just see them in the media more then others). I would have to say women freeskiers are underrated too. They are out there throwing big and killin it too. The problem there is  they are getting compared to the male skiers, which kind of sucks for them.

sammy is the man. and tanner is becoming the best freestyle and freeride allaround skier ever. he has done more for this sport than any other pro.

all pros are overated. there are so many guys out there that are just as good as them look at tom wallisch man he went from unknow to pro in like a month. being sponsored is so overated.

can't think of anyone that overrated much. i do raise an eyebrow when kids on here constantly bang on about people like wallisch and ahmet. sure these kids are insane on rails but sometimes its as if that's all there is to freeskiing to some of these kids.

i think ingrid backstrom is maybe underrated as she charges harder than most of her male contemporaries (true story) and is an underappreciated manifestation of the female form, even with a swollen bruised ass...

Sammy is easily in the top 3 best slopestyle skiers of all time. Riddle has him beat in the pipe, but thats about it.

It is all there is when you live somewhere with little snow. As people get older, they can more easily travel and get to experience powder and good parks, but sometimes all people have to start with is a small rusty rail.

i see your point, but that doesn't mean thay can't appreciate that the sport is multi-faceted, just because they haven't experienced the other bits yet.
idk, but it pisses me off when i hear comments like "wallisch would dominate xgames slopestyle" when he clearly wouldn't... y'dig?

i also think the vast majority of european pros are underrated by most of the ns community.

big stretch to say sammy is one of the top 3 ever??? honestly show me comps where he has the results of other top 10 slope guys? go out on a limb and say he doesnt come close to podium at this year x....he is only popular because he rooms w/guys from freeskier and gets a ton of pix from them and his nose up tanners crank like he did Simons before he dissed onhim.

I kind of think Simon is a little overrrated, not a ton of diversity in his riding.  His halfpipe is impressive, but without that, I'm not sure why his name is so big.

much agreed and ian cosco. i got the opposite feel of sammy i feel like he throws down and doesn't care about the camera and i had the impression that simon dumont was the camera whore maybe both are maybe both aren't. We shouldn't form opinions on these people based on the camera (excluding skiing ability).
