Extracting Vocals From Songs

I have seen numerous edits with songs that usually have lyrics, but they vocals have somehow been taken out.
Is there some program I need to do this? Or do I just need the instrumental version of the song?

oh i thought you wanted the vocals. yeah those are called instrumentals, download soulseek and just search instrumental and you'll get instrumentals of tones of songs. you can be specific and just type the name of the song and then just add the word instrumental, you might find it. its easier to find rap instrumentals than rock or any other genre. you can also try limewire. or even try using google

What I was saying was that they usually have lyrics, but the vocals have been removed. Thus resulting in only instruments.
