Quick calc question

does anyone know the derivative of [[x]]. I cant figure out what the double brackets mean. and how would i graph it to find the exrema for the interval [-2,2]

could one of the brackets be just straight lines, like an absolute value? because that is the only thing I could think of, I havent seen two sets of brackets like that.
