Whats up!
Thought i could give you all my thoughts on this movie since there are literally none on here.
As many of you, I was stoked for this film from what I saw in the teaser. The whole Candide Invitational Story thing sounded awesome and I couldn't wait to see more footage from the event and learn what its all about. Needless to say, I was disappointed when I realized that there was no real story from the invitational. The film featured maybe 10 shots from the event, and although they were awesome, I was expecting something else. With that being said, the vid was just like every other skiflick out there. Nothing special.
It has a sick intro, lots of jawdropping shots and a sick song. But as I watched the whole thing I realized that those shots were the best from the whole thing and most of them, if not all, was shown in the different parts later. Candide had a sick first part, but nothing innovative like he use to have. I would also like to point out Arnaud Kugener and Xavier Bertoni who had cool segments, apart from a few shots that they could have done without. Besides them, no one stands out and it makes for a rather repetative experience. The fact that some shots were used up the three times and countless shots from the same spots doesn't help that feeling of repetativeness (not sure if thats accually a word). It also features some pretty mediocre camerawork, not nearly as good as you would expect from a film at this level. The quality isnt very good either.
All in all this movie was disappointing, partly because of the lack of the whole Candide Invitational Story thing, and partly because of the fact that as a normal movie, its not very good. Plus for soundtrack (partly) and a couple of good segments.
