Cork 7's

Ya cork 5s are by far the easiest of corked spins to do. what i do on cork 7s that really helps is try to grab in front of your boot or farther up and this will keep you from gettiing back seat also try to spot for landing at 5 so you can set up for 7.

The only problem for that is that the jump I was doing them on was too small for a cork 7 with a grab, and the only jump that's big enough has a crazy lip that shoots you really far back seat.

Depending on how you do them I can help you. If you do it like me and throw your hand across the body on a downward angle and roll over your shoulder to get into it, your probably not throwing your arm downward enough (not setting enough of the flipping aspect of it). If you do them the other way where your let your feet ride up the jump and then tuen your shoulders down and across (I noticed lots of mogul skiers do that, at least the ones ive seen on tv and the once in my town) then I don't know how to help you I can only do those like that on a tramp.

Yeah that's how I try them, with the arm down across my body, do you think it would have helped to carve a little?

I used to have the same problem but i think as i practiced them more and more it got a lot better. Like someone said before try spotting for it at 5. You might also want to throw it a little harder so you come around quicker to give yourself a little more time to uncork.

well for starters....cork 5 and cork 7 are two complely different tricks, you cant do a cork 5 the same way you attempt a cork 7

yeah, and a 7 is easier for most.

i cant really explain it but for a cork 5 i cork kinda to the side and much later than in a 7
on a 7 i start corking as soon as the spin starts, and its more straight backwards.

it should feel like you are coming out of a backflip almost in a cork 7 so its super easy to spot and land

The primary reasons people don't come back on axis from corked spins is either they don't stay tucked or they don't keep their head in the spin.  I don't have time to explain all of it right this second but When you  throw your spin, keep it tucked tight as possible and keep looking over your shoulder.  This should bring you around if you're throwing your cork right.  Also, 7's are easier to get back on axis because the rotation is more natural and it is easier to spot your landing.  However, if the jump isn't big, you take what you can work with...

Bring your hands up and forward on landing, that will put you more centered.

Try not to suck so bad and you can not go off axis

I attempted cork 7s yesterday and stompedit every time.  I was surprised at how easy it is to bring yourself out of cork in a 7, and it does feel like coming out of a backflip.  Before i tried it i got the following tips (these are tips for spinning to the left):

-when you pop bring your left hand down to the back of your left binding
-Bring your right hand past your face and then throw it downwards like you are punching the ground.
-your skis will slingshot out in front of you and you will spin the first 360 rediculously off axis
-during the next 360 stay tucked up (your hands should be on each boot or close too it) and your skis will scoop up below you as you look at the landing (dont concentrate on a grab too much any tuck will do)
-your whold body should be on axis as you open up and stomp that shit!

an important thign to remember is that cork is not like an ordinary spin and will feel CRAZY the first few times and you have to stay tucked up till the last  180 wher eyou can start to straighten out.

The way i felt when i first corked was like there was a weight in my chest and my legs that span around eachother (on a corked axis so that if you drew a line from 1 to the other it would be parallel to the ground) and then magically flew back into position and landed.  I know it sounds crazy and the 'weights' was probably my bladder and stomach going crazy, but a friend of mine said that this is how he felt doing them too... so i dunno maybe you will experience this crazy shit for yourself.

Also cork 7s are better for learning than cork 5s IMO since your body naturally uncorks you in a 7 and not so much in a 5.
