I came into it late.
Ron Paul seems to be the only guy who gets how the world works vis a vis 9/11, pre-emptive war and the war in Irak, or at least between him, Romney and Giuliani.
Romney just annoys me when he speaks. I wish he would stop.
Giuliani reminds me of bush with his smirks, bomb you later be afraid 9/11!
Otherwise, meh. I don't care about these guys.

i truly respect paul. even though i believe some of his policy suggestions are impractical, it is refreshing to hear someone (articulately) able to present an honest alternative point of view. its a shame such honesty is not rewarded in politics these days.
i never thought my favourite candidate would be a republican, but since he has no chance, tell everyone to vote for obama. he at least represents a return to the spectrum of centralist sanity.

As long as it's Ron Paul or Huckabee in the end I'm happy.
I'd like to see Paul, but I don't see him getting the nod honestly, and I feel that Huckabee is the next best thing.
Not to mention he's endorsed by Chuck Norris.

obama seems pretty zealous about intervening further in the middle east - he repeatedly talks about putting US forces in pakistan. i don't understand how people don't see the idiocy in that idea; the problems in pakistan are the direct result of our intervention in iraq - the musharraf government is on the verge of collapse because the people are pissed at the regime for cooperating with us in attacking another muslim nation. invasion or pseudo-invasion is not the answer to every foreign relations problem - quite the opposite in fact (generally speaking).
obama's a great orator with a lot of ideas i think are very foolish - which is a dangerous thing in the US. i think south park was conservative in estimating what percentage of americans are retarded - i'd say it's more like 95% - most people will vote for whoever talks the best and seems likable. which is why a corrupt, dishonest moron like mike huckabee does so well.

mike huckabee denies evolution as a scientific fact
that really frightens me

to be fair, i think what huckabee said was that he believed God created the world but didn't know HOW He did so, basically claming agnosticism in regards to evolution (i.e., "God did it, maybe He used evolution, maybe he didn't, i don't know). that's a politically savvy thing to say given his support base - evangelicals.
that being said, that kind of thing bothers me a lot about huckabee - he tries to come off as this innocent southern preacher man, but he's very smooth and conniving politically. i'm a christian and i can't stand the guy - i think it's disgusting the way he uses Jesus for his own political gain. in jesse lacy's words, "the God I believe in never worked on a campaign trail."

Obama is talking about a specific case wherein intervention would be necessary, not an at-all-costs let's go to war in Pakistan.
He is speaking about a situation where:
_there is actionable, reliable intelligence that Osama/Al Qaeda targets must be stopped in the region
_Musharraf is not willing to assist in dismantling the threat or is incapable of just that
_ and, above all, if diplomacy fails, as it would be the first strategy.
Obama is all about diplomacy, he made that very clear. He's speaking about a specific situation that would warrant involvement that is unlikely at best.

All of the Dem's foreign policies scare me, no worries. Clinton is fucking far off the map, "we'll let them know when the missiles are on their way..."... like what the fuck, seriously. Obama is the most centered by far of the four that are up there, but even he is a bit extreme for me. Thank god I agree with his Health Care and economic policies, otherwise my vote might be for Romney... uuuuuuuuhg. *shudder*

i really think this year is gonna be an instance of "suck it up swallow your pride and vote for someone you hate because their political beliefs are on point compared with yours" (hillary, romney) for both sides

Haha, welcome to the democratic process...
But seriously, if I have to mark in "Hillary Clinton", I'll stab my eyes out when I'm asked on my exit poll.

- there is a steady flow of reliable, actionable intelligence regarding al qaeda targets in pakistan because, like many corrupt governments in the islamic world (such as the abhorrent bashir regime in the sudan), the musharraf regime stays on the good side of american support by passing on to the CIA everything they can
- musharraf at this point is incapable of doing just about anything
- diplomacy with who? al qaeda? musharraf's impotent, collapsing government? the islamic fundamentalists standing ready to replace him?
obama's conditions for military action in pakistan are already being met on a daily basis - that's what worries me about obama: he puts forth all of these well-spoken, reasonable-sounding ideas that mask propositions for sometimes startlingly extreme action.
also, if i'm not mistaken (and it's possible i am), he's proposed sending in US forces to "secure" the pakistani nuclear arsenal. now doesn't that sound similar to our mission to "disarm" saddam? i'm not saying this is necessarily a terrible idea - it might be the lesser of several evils (though we brought it on ourself with the invasion of iraq) - but "securing" a nation's nuclear weapons during a revolution is no small task. i would be surprised if it could be successfully accomplished without a near-full-scale invasion.

I missed it last night, Im watching it on youtube right now. Holy fuck, McCain and Romney are going at it right now, this is rediculous, both of them are arrogant interrupting idiots. Im getting so confused by this bickering and Romney interrupting and Mccain trying to talk over people about Amnesty. Seriously, this moderator is sucking it up and just needs to shut their mics off....sigh.
