Best Placve to Stay at Alta?

Hey guys,
                Whats the best and most convenient place to stay at Alta on a college student budget?  The Alta Peruvian Lodge?  Anything more like a hostel, kinda like the Hostel-X in Jackson, thats student-friendly and pretty cheap?

stay down near the canyon in slc ata cheap hotel like best western or somthing and hop on the bus each morning to ride up the canyon/ catch a nap. the bus is free if you buy the lift ticket card which gets you passes at alta, the bird, solitude, and brighton. pm if you want help i did it last winter.

staying in slc is defiently to cheapest, but the goldminer's daughter right at the base is so nice. It's ski in ski out and dinner is included and wicked good, but it's somewhat expensive, but it's worth it because you don't have to drive up the canyon when there's fresh snow
