So...Should I go center?

I finally got my hellbents. Now I need to mount them. Should I go dead center or like -1 from dead center? What's the benefits and drawbacks of each? This thread is mostly for people who ride them, but if you don't still state your opinion. Thanks in advance.

i would go center, thats where pep and andy mount their skis so i figure i would do the same as them

core not true center. with the rocker you would have a small amount of effective tip at true center.

I just got my Hellbents mounted at core center and rode them for the first time yesterday. Personally I thought it was perfect, great control regular and switch. No tip dive in the pow even going switch and carved well on hardpack. Also the most fun I've ever had on a pair of skis. Wherever you decide to mount'em you're gonna love those skis.

If that's where the core center mark is, I just lined up midsole with core center and stood on the skis and it felt only slightly behind true center. Also when i first got on them yesterday I was afraid with the rocker that I had too little ski in front of my bindings but it turned out great. I don't think I personbally would have wanted to go any farther forward.

Are you sure? You are aware that that will leave you more tail, and less nose. DONT mount your helbents that far forward, go true centre at the furthest. My Ar6's are 2cm forward of true centre, and they are good for park, and thats it.

All the people I know who have them have gone -1cm from true centre, and no complaints.

i have 189s mounted at +7.5 on the graph.........dead center

might be the smallest bit too far forward, but since they're actually 194 in length there is still plenty of ski up front

if you think of the shape of the ski, being centered on the flat spot in the middle is probably the best to avoid premature wheelies.

the only problem with a superwide 194cm ski in heavy chopped up pow is that you have to push extra hard to move all that snow around

super fun ski for sure.

I think he meant 1cm back. Or atleast that's what I thought he meant. In the end I went with +5 from recommended which is -2 from core center I think.

For the last few years all K2s except the girls have had true centre at +12.5 on the scale. Not sure if the Hellbent is any different, measure it to be sure.

I'm going to call the shop and talk to the actual tech who is going to mount them. He's not going to be in for another few hours though, so I'll ask a few questions and figure this out.

You should know:
<b>Core centre is the MIDDLE of the CORE of the ski</b>
<b>True centre is the MIDDLE of the SKI (Tip and tail)</b>

Always use true centre for reference, as core centre is different on practically every ski.

I will be mounting my hellbents, when I get them, at -1cm from true centre. From what Ive heard and read, that is the best spot to mount.

Wow that helps a lot. Apparently core center on the hellbents is so close to true center that it doesn't make much of a difference. I went with 1cm back from core center.

GO center. I got the Pontoons and mounted them center. there so fat that it gives you a great balance at center. Its easy to spin also even though there so fat.

OMG! That is the most fun I have had on a pair of skis in a long time. It was dumping so we got a good mix of pow and park. Suprisingly, I did quite well on the rails which is awesome. I was worried about not being able to hit rails. That was a sick day!

As for the bindings, I got a pair of Axial 120's (The all white Scratch bindings). They are set at 8 for din. I came to Whistler like a week and a half ago and didn't think to bring my FKS. I guess they'll be for my next park skis, plus then their easier to bend the brakes.
