Does anyone else thing LINE is going under? Theya are not even having the binding this year. I think they may have bit off more than they could chew last year. What do ya think?

Maybe the only reason I'm wondering is because of all of the people who brought broken lines into the shop that I work at last season. And the fact that we haven't heard shit from them lately.

I think jason levintal said something about they stopped making the binding because some japanese company that makes a major part of the binding folded so they couldn't get that part so they couldn't make the bindings. He said that. it could also be just cause they needed more work too.

I could probably buy a pair of K2 Public Enemys right now, but instead, I'm going to support the company I love, Line Skis, I love my 1260s but they're too short... so I'll get the 177cm model :)

if sars= no binding, would you kindly explain to me why every other ski company that produces there goods oversees (k2 for example is in china now, which was one of the hardest hit) has had no problem what so ever getting goods out? sars was an easy blame for jay, he doesnt want to go out and say that the binding sucks, then no one would have faith in it for next year. its simple business, dont diss your own products, blaim it on something else.

what i can see is line getting very small as far as skis produced. look at it from a business point of view, there not rider owned any more, so they could get the boot anytime. they got lots of shit going wrong, and there diggin into a deep hole. our shop is not buyin a single product from line this year, this is coming from the shop that was the first to carry line products and prolly had some of the largest orders in lines early years. we didnt sell one pair of line skis last year without having to discount them over 50%. people are looking for new, K2, Rossi, Dynastar, Salomon, Armada, and 4frnt have some solid lineups out this year, which will turn kids away from line. I know a shitload of kids that are buying into those companys just because they dont want the same line shit this year. with that, they will stick with those companys for years to come. its all in hype too, the trouble maker and armada have the most hype right now, so what do you think will be best selling this season? 1260? nope. Maveric? try again. Public enemy? getting closer. you know where im going.

in this market if a ski is not changed every year, they could be dancing with death. line pretty much has nothing new this year, so they got there dance shoes on.

I think what they are trying to tell you is that Like is doing fine, they just had some recent set backs but you can look forward to seeing their new stuff out soon.

And no I don't know much about line skis at the moment, I'm just clarifying what you all said without the profanity. hahaha

none of you even know why the binding didin't fly, line was looking for a manufacturer, so they find one and they're gonna be made in china, just as the deal sets in, suddenly the ceo of the manufacturer dies unexpectedly leaving everything up in the air, so the new guy comes in and start manufacturing in china, suddenly sars breaks out and they loose alot of there workers and executive so the materials weren't properly made and put together, that's why they didn't come out this ;year cause it would've been to hard and the product would've been shotty, so all of you fags who think the binding sucks, go to hell, when they get it right it's gonna blow you away

Line did some good for the industry, but they are not in the best position right now.

- they spent all there money on there binding, and now they aren't even selling it. dont igve me that sars shit. thats the worst excuse ive ever heard.
- they told all teh shops there making the binding, and now they arent delivering. lotsa pissed off shops!!
- there skis break. it's a plane and simple fact that they cant escape.
- with armada and 4frnt now, why bother buying line? they aren't rider owned, there skis suck, they don't do anything to help the indistry other than sponsor a couple of skiers.

Line had its time, and it was an important part of where skiing is today, but there future is not looking quite so bright.

what are you talking about not rider owned, jason levinthal is a sick rider and they do alot for the sport, and armada and 4frnt are not taking the spot light, you know how many shops here in calgary have line? 6, and how many have armada, 1, and none have 4frnt let alone heard of it

As of May 20th, 5,236 people in China had SARS. Their population is 1.3 BILLION. How could 0.00000403% of the population getting sick effect the production of a binding? And if all of these workers were getting sick, why didn't any of the other china-made products go down the poop hole?

It is rider operated, but not rider owend. if you actually new anything, you would know that jason doesnt actually own line anymore.

who cares if there are more line dealers in calgary? I would hope so since they have been around for 5 years or something and armada and 4frnt are less than a year old. elan probably has 20 dealers in calgary, does that make them better?

what does line do for the sport? this i gotta hear.

fine, you know what, i'm done arguing about it, everyone has an opinion, but personally i don't have anything against line, i myself don't know the trials and problems that go along with owning a company especially in such a competetive position that line is in and the industry that they're working in, i'm just trying to be more sympathetic rather than judging cause it's not like i or anyone on here is doing anything to make it better

just to state my opinion. i demoed the line reactor binding with mike nicks last year and they were incredibly. aside from the fact that they were a little heavier they were really good at performing. i will be buying a pair of lines next year when production of the reactor binding is back on

yeah about sars, even though it was such a small percentage of china's population, line's contractor happened to be at the center of the outbreak, where the percetnage infected was much higher than the rest of the country. If you dont believe me, look it up yourself

didnt read a single post except the first. but line started so shaky in a market with really no small brands of skis, but they got high up, so i think just from the poast it wont go under. and second, people buy the skis, yep. line is probably growing more than anything else.

I think line is going through a weid phase right now. I think the corporate owners not levinthal want to enter the main stream ski market. Which is why they have those new blizzard skis with their graphics on it. Unfortunatley this move doesnt seem toi be working for them in North America the majority of people on here think it was a dumb idea but it may work in Japan. LIne was truly a pioneer but i think that by widening its line to incluse carving skis it is a mistake.

And whoever said its an excuse that line pulled out of the factory in Asia and how come K2 didnt have that problem it is pretty simple. K2 is a bigger company that has control of production in Asia. LIne relied on another company to manufacture the good so that company pulled out not line but since line is a smaller company they dont have the power to make a direct link to factories in Asia
(trust me, the '' things aren't actually there)

line going under? wouldnt happen. I have prof to back it up. I work at getboards.com. And I am here to tell you that we sell more lines then all our other skies put together. (if that makes sence). just in mike nicks alone we sell like 10 pair a week. now that i gave you a little idea about thier skies i can tell you that there clothing is going off too. im sure well be sold out of line after christmas. line is just in a wierd position right now. but im almost positive that they will pull threw. now that you know, there is no need to even question if line will go under. line is still a big part of the skiing industrie and will always be. not to mention their warranty they have kicks ass.

jason leventhal is a tool, he talks shit about the other ski comapnys all the time. I rode the lift with him a few years ago and I had k2's on and he was like when are you gona get some real skis? and I was like at least mine havent fallen apart.

seeing how i make thos and ive never made one that gives that type of deal.
AS far as D-Structure, they would never put us out of business because they
live in canada and we live in the US. poeple in the us downt want to pay for
extra shipping thats why they come to us. and no it doesnt suck working here
because i get to chill on a computer and print out orders. probly alot better job
