Does such a ski exist?

My old skis are slowly dying, so im starting to look for something new.

When i ski, i generally hang with two friends: one that races/skis bumps, the other that skis park. Im looking for a ski that can do both reasonably well. i want the twin for park use, but a good stiff, grippy ski that can cruise at high speed and do general all-mountain. I live in MA, so the snow is generally icy, and i do tend to ski more all-mountain than park. I like being able to ride trails switch, hit small/medium jumps. I dont really do rails- thats a project for the future. Im 155lbs, 5'7. I've been looking at the 4FRNT MSP and the Volkl karma, but neither seemed to really be the answer. Any thoughts?

I'm surprised you don't like the Karmas, because that's exactly what they're for.  Anyway, try the
K2 Public Enemys - very popular, semi-stiff, does everything okay
Dynastar Troublemaker - tons of pop, a little soft but still incredibly stable
Rossi Scratch FS - great all around ski
Rossi Scratch BC - an even better all around ski
Liberty SB or Hazmat  - (I haven't skied the Hazmat) Softer tips for pow, great in the park, rips on the rest of the mountain, very quick edge to edge.

Scratch FS and troublemakers would be sweet. I'd say mount a couple cm up from reccomended though, obviously not true center since you wanna be doing a good amount of all mtn, but I think couple cm up would be good

I havent actually demoed any skis yet- i've only read reviews. The local mountain has a demo shop so I guess i really only need some suggestions for what to demo.

I live in MA, and ive ridden the MSP's, PE's, and Karma's. All = dope, but the PE's and Karma's seem perfect for you. The MSP's are wide underfoot, which might be tough in bumps, but carry a lot of speed easily and do it all in the park. The Karma's are stiffer than the PE's, but both skis do park/speed equally well. Its all about your personal preference.

Overall, all great skis and I dont think you can go wrong with any of them. If you can, demo them or borrow them from a friend for a run. Gook luck bro.

I would look into the Salomon Gun. They're very versatile, and okay in bumps. If you know how to ski you can carve up groomers like nothing, they don't suck on ice and are light and poppy enough for park.

I started doing some research into the Public Enemies and Karmas, and ran into the whole cap vs. sidewall debate. The public enemies have the sidewall, the karmas are cap. Other than ease of development for the production teams, does one have a real advantage over the other? I'm hearing that sidewall construction holds better and sticks to the snow better- is this true?

Karmas are sidewall construction. Those are old now anyway, replaced by the Wall and Bridge, so look into those.

opinions on the wall vs. bridge? the Wall seems to be a more park-oriented ski than what I want- is this true? The bridge sounds to big mountain/powder oriented.

i would have to say salomon foils. the waist is not as wide as the guns and they tend to be stiffer.

And of course, no one mentions the Fischer Addict.

Reasonably stiff park ski that is very damp and can destroy pretty much everything, though I wouldn't want them for anything more than 3" of fresh.

Super lively and they have held up really well.

If you want even stiffer look at the Addict Pro.

Best Bet = old Karmas

New skis that are good:
MSP - Wide for bumps but is everything else you are looking for.
Foil - Sweet all mtn, will chatter some at very high speeds.  Like lots of turn shapes and sizes and is very playful.
Addict or even Addict Pro - Stiff and stiffer true twin.  Carves better than expected out of the park.  This is the most park/least race oriented of the bunch.
Ghetto - Similar to the Foil, only a little 'beefier' and not as playful.  Also a little more park oriented than Foil.
Brigade - Similar to MSP only toned down a little and wider.

None of the new Volkls are even close to the old Karma (please bring it back Volkl).

they are all fairly similar. stiff, poppy, they will be good for all mountain, stable at high speeds and dope in the park. its just personal perferance from there, company, graphics, dimensions, etc. i personally would go for the chronics or the karmas.

Hey I was skiing quite similar to you up until last year when I got a bit more specialized.. I reckon the foil is the perfect ski for you.. I'm a bit taller and a little lighter than you but the 174 is probably what you want.. possibly the 166 if you're gonna mount all the way back at recommended.. I skiied foils for two weeks last year in vail and skiied about 1/2 the time with two friends who are instructors/ racers and i could keep up with them on the foils.. the rest of the time i was in bumps and the trees and a bit of pow.. foils can do it all and are a really fun ski.. they're also bulletproof if they're anything like my old 1080s in the long run.. hope this helps.. oh and if you're gonna be skiing park.. go long and mount further forward.. this will only be really noticeable in the bumps

yep these would work fine for you.  ive got anthems that lve taken everywhere and they are amazing but might be a little soft for what you want

Ar6s would be super too  my friend gots some and he was slayin waist deep pow in the morning and then killin it in the park in the afternoon when i went skiing with him

everyone is suggesting wide skis. from what it sounds like, you're skiing a lot of hardpack and groomers, with someone who likes to rip turns. you also like to ski bumps. wide skis inherently do not ski well in the bumps. my seths are manageable in the bumps, but they're nowhere near as good as my silencers. that being said, you don't want a ski thats 90+ in the waist. The PE would be a good bet for you, but ideally, i think the troublemaker would suit what you're looking for the best. they're one of the best east coast all mountain skis out there, they're super poppy for hitting jumps in the park, and they are great in the bumps too.

karmas. i use them for exactly what you wanna do. they are amazing. go with the 05-06 = cheaper. and they hold up quite nicely.

Just demoed the Fischer addicts and scratch screamin last night. Didn't like the scream ins alot- they felt kind of dead. I love the addicts, and will probably get some. Awesome, lively ski. I was skiing a 163 that did everything I wanted. I dont know if there is anything better, but those things rocked :) . How do they compare with the addict pros? The ones I skied were center mounted, which I assume is pretty much standard on a symmetrical ski. That took some getting used to, but no big problem. Thanks so much for all your help guys.

I like how the title of this thread is "Does such a ski exist?" and it turns out (according to the above posts) that pretty much half of all twin tips fit his description. Addicts sounds sick, MSP's sounds good too, both light and stiff.

Ive skid all of em except the karma, an i liked the chronics best, the PEs are fun but pretty heavy an not very fun in the park, the chronics are lite and fun all mountain an they haul ass

armada pipe cleaners sound good, they have a race base for going fast, they work well going switch and you can play around with them still with the medium flex.

yo i check out a ski with a low turning radius (nothing above  18) which will make it alot easier carving and for the park look for a moderatly stiff ski - possibly an armada ski or an atomic twin which have great edge control

The Volkl Bridges are made for all mountain; I haven't ridden them but I've only heard positive things about them from people who have.
