so i tried a quick search that came up with nothing but anyways, my gloves smell. like ass to be exact. my hands sweat so much when im skiing and i never let them dry after, i know stupid. anyways i have tried spraying them with shit and what not but nothing works, and i don't want to really wash them. any known ways to get rid of the smell? or should i just get some new ones?
my brothers hockey gear used to always smell. the sprays sometimes worked but then someone suggested putting some of the pads in the freezer. so maybe try that, and stick some baking soda in them.
I had a similar problem, once you get them smelling really bad there isn't a whole lot you can do. Get some better more breatheable gloves and treat them well. I've tried washing them and they'll smell better but your hands will stink 'em back up within a few ski days.
maybe ill just wash them then? i figured it would fuck them up but hey if it does oh well they smelled anyways.
glove liners are a no, cause they are actually really hot mittens cause my other (most favorite pair ever) of gloves got destroyed by the rope tow finally so i need to get new ones...ill try the washer until i get the $$ to get new gloves.
I washed mine. Didn't do much, water-proofability just went down the sink and it was hard as hell to dry out too.
Mine stink of sour stuff. And the smell stays on my hands afterwards, so I have to wash my hands like 3 times before the smell goes away. I'm probably just going to get a new pair of gloves
true.. it shoule be fine if you do a cold hand wash, or leave them to soak, them let them dry naturally, like in the hot water cupboard, or just in a warm room. dont put them in a dryer. if you're worried about the waterproofing going you can get spray on stuff or stuff that you wash them in that re waterproofs then. it works pretty well cause I rewaterproofed my tramping jacket and its better than it was new
granger's g-wash. works better than nikwax techwash. lots better, more cleaning power and doesn't leave a crappy residue. both will keep the waterproofing in your fabric
i use those glove dryer things you can buy like you just stick it over a heating vent then put the gloves on it, but i have one pair that just reeks and my other 2 dont at all so i dunno
If you're desperate to save the gloves, clean them with care or they may just get fucked over. I know after drying my gloves too many times they got smaller and uncomfortable not to mention they faded. Next time around make sure what you buy is as BREATHABLE as possible or you're gonna have the same problem.
You need better functioning gloves for you personally. Gloves that don't have as much insulation, and better breathability. And just for the record, air drying gloves is the only way to go, same goes for all your outerwear. Just hang them upside down, from a clothes hanger where there is some air movement (not trapped in a closet.)
^ Amen to that. I cant believe people don't at least leave their shit out to dry somewhat, I've seen countless friends just toss 'em in a bag or bin back at their place and when he cracks them out the next morning he's pissed off that they're wet and smell like Ron Jeremy's gooch.
