I ordered a pair of Moment Reno Jibs at the end of July this past summer after months of reading reviews and basically figuring out what ski I wanted for the upcoming season. Moment caught my eye, I was so stoked on the companies mentality and their products. I joined the Moment Cult where I could talk directly to the people who were actually making my skis. I liked how the guys at Moment were dedicated to their customers and the fact that they took all customer feedback and suggestions seriously.
My skis arrived at the end of September and I couldn't have been happier. They looked sick, felt great, and were extremely light. I finally got them mounted with FKS 155's over Thanksgiving break and skied on them for the first time the following Saturday at Mount Snow. They skied great. I had no problem holding an edge on groomers at high speed and they tore up the crud. They felt good on rails but unfortunatly I wasn't able to hit any nice or big jumps on them because it was still early in the season. They skied great in moguls, it was easy to make quick short turns. The only area that I was displeased with was their performance in powder. I suppose this is to be expected though out of a stiff park ski.
My Moment stoke came to a crashing halt when I was leaving school for winter break. As I was putting my skis into my dads car I noticed that they were broken. The ski was cracked a couple of layers deep near the nose. I could easily have snapped it in half with some effort. Also on my other ski, again near the nose, the edge was splitting apart from the wood core. The split was about 1-2mm wide and 12cm long. I emailed Moment with pictures and they immediately gave me three options for warranty.
My point in making this thread is to make people aware that my skis did break after 6 or 7 days. Moment makes some sick skis but in my experience the lightness of the Reno Jib does affect its durability. I also remeber reading some posts about problems with breakage of earlier models but I figured that the problem had been rectified. Good news is that the 08/09 Reno Jibs are supposed to be more durable.
