yeah thatd be my one wish if i only had one
if i had 3?, read on (i was really bored one day)
one thing thats been kicking around in my head for a very long time is the genie thing: what would you do with your 3 wishes?
for literally years, ive wanted my 1st wish to be the power to control
time - not just travel through it, but to be able to speed up, slow
down, go forward, back, stop it, whatever.
only this year did a solid wish #2 present itself: flawless
communication. this means whatever i think comes out exactly how i
intended it, wether this is voice, drawn, written, music - whatever.
itd also rid my life of ambiguity.
however, only last night did i come across a worthy 3rd wish - whatever
the damn hell i wanted. combining the first 2 wishes of perfect
communication and time control, i could perfectly describe this 3rd
wish, even down to being able to change my entire reality.
so heres the wishes and the order in which i'd make em
WISH 1
perfect expression
i would wish that no matter what was going on in my mind, i could
convert it flawlessly to any medium. this could mean thinking up a tune
and being able to play it on whatever instrument, to being able to draw
something exactly as you pictured it in your head, to being able to
tell someone exactly what you think/feel without clumbsy ambiguity or
misconstrued messages.
the reason why this'd be the first wish is so that i can then describe
the other wishes in the agonising detail required to avoid any of those
tricky traps and loopholes and crap that are rife in most
genie/leprechaun/selling your soul to the devil/tom cruise stories.
WISH 2
control time
so, time travel - pretty neat huh? no. no it is not. time travel both
sucks and blows, what with that whole butterfly effect/messing up
timelines/space-time continum fuckups. no, what i want is the ability
to control time, like the universe is a tape that can be paused,
rewound, sped up, slowed down, whatever (and for the purposes of this
fantasy, time is linear enough, ok?)
now the main reasoning behind this wish is it provides an excellent
opportunity to live life without fear or regret. scared about screwing
swomething up or doing something that could result in grevous bodily
harm? no biggie, just rewind and take another shot at it.
this fantasy was actually borne out of my skiing obsession - with an
ability to rewind, i could try the most amazing outrageous shit without
fear of long term injury - if i buggered up itd only be for as long as
it took me to get time to rewind itself. also, slowing down time would
give you sweet reflexes and spacial awareness - trees/bumps anyone??
connected to the skiing thing, being able to rewind time would be real
handy for income generation - knowing the lotto results before they
happen greatly increases the odds of winning (btw - $30 million on a
6.5% term deposit makes about $2mil/yr before tax - i could live with
that for you know, eternity.
now, one of the most important stipulations id put into this whish (and
that id be able to describe properly thanks to our good friend wish #1)
is that like a tape, if you see it happen, then rewind it, you already
know whats going to happen. this is to say, whilst the rest of
existance rewinds, my mind still contains the same amount of
information as it did before i hit "<<"
anothe thing. id make it so that i cant rewind any further than to 5
minutes before i found the genie/whoever. this would prevent me from
doing something that prevents me from doing something that stops me
seeing the genie in the first place, unless i wanted to.
it will also function as my wish editor. if any alterations need to be
made to any of the wishes, i could just rewind and take another shot at
describing it, including the first 2. im gonna have to rely on my wits
to be able to describe wish #1 well enough to be able to describe wish
#2 well enough to go back and fine tune wish 1 so i can fine tune wish
2 (yeah its complex but doable), then i'll be pretty solidly set.
WISH 3
whatever the fuck i feel like
yep. with the ability to have infinite goes at this one, and being able to perfectly describe it, im gonna go to town.
my first wish though would be to be able to change my physical form at
will. this doesnt just mean my appearance, but also to repair injury.
for safetys sake, id prolly choose to stay a mammal of some description
and to have a time limit on the transformation incase some form of
modification kills or impares me past the point of being able to rewind
to undo it. fun things to do with this one would include fixing my god
damn knee and to make myself buff and sexy as all hell
(ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh), changing into different animals and stuff, as well as simpler stuff like making myself taller/shorter or chaging my eye/hair colour
segue'ing ever so graceully from that idea, this 3rd wish has the
potential to be used to generate entire realities. holy hell, so many
comic - inspired fantasies could be opened up here. to make the reality
hopping more fun, a thing i could do is to live an entire lifetime in
the reality i wish for as just a mirror of myself from this one - with
no knowledge of anything outside my created reality (which has just
opened a trippy question - what if im living in a wished reality right
now??? anyway...) and then when i die in that reality, pop! i come into
the point where i was initially. wether or not i keep the memories of
that life time are up to me, as, with a bit of careful timeline
juggling, i could just go back and wish for that lifetime to be erased
from my memory. (bet there arent many people out there with negatively
geared timelines and minds hey??
heh, so thats about that. if anyone ever sees me daydreaming idly, im prolly thinking about those wishes in some way or another.
