Haha, I drove home today and in the ditch I saw a cardboard box that had burst open and scattered everywhere was the new issue of freeskier. im thinking about going back to get them so i can have sarah burke wallpaper, in my room!

Though having Sarah Burke wallpaper would be cool, it's not worth the effort of having to sift through the rest of the shitty mag. why does everyone hate freeskier? i think freeze is better, but its usually longer and it has some good articles, and sick photography as well, oh yeah, and all sarah burke wallpaper would kick ass

Dude stop hating on freeskier. its a good mag. both mags are good but in different ways. freeskier is more normal and down to earth, and way more about supporting up and comers.

Freeze is good because lots of the pros contribute to it and crap like that. the only problem I have with freeze is that in the trick section tricks they call simple are hard for many of us, and also that they make funof everyone who writes in their thoughts to the mag.

sometimes Freeskiers pics are a lot better than Freeze's. but yeah I like freeze a little more, but freeskier is still worth reading and stuff. Sarah throws cool tricks and looks good in the process

freeskier is shit...im done reading it cover to cover before im finished shitting. A good mag should at least keep you occupied while dropping a load...

Dude, go get 'em. Freeskier is an alright mag, the photos are sick but the articles lack. and to the first guy who dissed them, and to Fred and the other dudes that dissed the mag. Shut the hell up, you obviously couldn't do any better.

dude thats the prob with every good skiing mag, they need to be longer, like what the hell is with 150 page pamphlets they make, transworld snowboarding is routinely like 300 pages, thats what they need, more. all of em.

I couldn't do any better? Probably not. But give me staff, the facilities Freeskier has, and a budget from my publisher and I'm sure I could. I've been around this shit longer than most people have (I own the first ever issue of Freeskier, and yes I'm embarrassed) and have seen both Freeze and Freeskier evolve (or progress, but I'm sick of that word so I'm not going to use it). Freeskier has always been shittier than Freeze, and will continue to be so. The articles aren't nearly as well/cleverly/interestingly written as Freeze's, the pictures aren't any better than Freeze's(how many legit, quality, known and published photogs are there in the ski world? Only a finite amount, which means that pics will come from the same places, and quality will be pretty much the same), and finally the editorial staff at Freeskier licks balls. Feel free to argue, but the only magazine that's worse than Freeskier is Axis.

You know Freeskier is a quality mag regardless of what jib-whatever-ur-name-is thinks. In terms of making a mag thicker I think it would be cool if more mags could have regional updates. Like locals writing about comps are Blue, snow valley, MSLM, and shit like that. if the mags would post more reader letters or have reader columns where they post articles from locals regularly. I'm not saying that the locals should get paid but I've got plenty of stuff I'd like published that I think many people would like to hear.

yeah, all the guys that work for freeskier have college degrees in journalism and whatnot. their articles m,ay not always be the most interesting thing in the world, but at least they are well written and well laid out. the guys at freeze just seem to have more cool stuff, but like somone said, you feel like an 8-year-old when you read it because they just don't have the panache that the freeskier staff does.

oh and that's nice that you have the first freeskier magazine ever, i guess that makes you the authority on how all ski magazines should be made.

If you to feel smart, 'good about yourself', or feel that you're not 8 years old through reading, you should read a book. Try Captains of Consciousness by Stuart Ewen. If you want good ski porn, go get a Freeze or SKIER. If you need toilet paper, Freeskier does the trick quite nicely. The glossy pages don't feel rough when you wipe.

Freeskier is wayyy more artsy than freeze. Freeze is a magazine that is essentially a bunch of pros writing articles and then having them published. They also have funny stuff like the overheard things and i like the gadgets page. However, Freeskier appeals more to me because I'm into art and it makes it seem really professional. I agree that sometimes the articles lack, and it's true. Freeskier has tons of full-page pictures, and it would be better if they just added more reading material. I thought that Steele Spence thing in the hallways was an awesome story, except they could have gone into much more detail and print more than just one pic. They could have expanded that sooo much, and it would have been much better. I wish they would do more stuff like that though, because that is progression at it's best. Freeskier still is my favorite, but i don't mind reading a freeze if i come across it as long as that stupid fatass poser brad holmes isn't on every other page like a few years ago. Oh, BTW my grandpa taught bradford fayfield years ago, and i go to the same school so that scores points that freeskier's editor is a local MN boy

the thing about freeskier and photos is that its about rights, money and all of that crap. freeze managed to get more money and funding from transworld than freeskier has. so in many people's mind freeze is better cause it set one standard. well freeskier is setting a new standard and very soon everyones pleas for more photos and more articles will come true!
